Songs of the season
With the holidays upon us, what songs seem to always get you in the celebratory spirit?  Are you into old standards, or do you enjoy more current hits? Is it the silly songs or the deeply spiritual ones that resonate with you?

I love the Chanukah song..but this year I think my favorite and most appropriate song is......:

So this is Xmas
And what have you done
Another year over
And a new one just begun
And so this is Xmas
I hope you have fun
The near and the dear one
The old and the young
A very Merry Xmas
And a happy New Year
Let's hope it's a good one
Without any fear
And so this is Xmas
For weak and for strong
For rich and the poor ones
The world is so wrong
And so happy Xmas
For black and for white
For yellow and red ones
Let's stop all the fight
A very Merry Xmas
And a happy New Year
Let's hope it's a good one
Without any fear
And so this is Xmas
And what have we done
Another year over
A new one just begun
And so happy Xmas
We hope you have fun
The near and the dear one
The old and the young
A very Merry Xmas
And a happy New Year
Let's hope it's a good one
Without any fear
War is over, if you want it
War is over now
Happy Xmas

The Chanuka Song Lyrics

by Adam Sandler

Put on your yarmulke
Here comes Chanukah
So much funukah
To celebrate Chanukah
Chanukah is the festival of lights
Instead of one day of presents, we have eight crazy nights

When you feel like the only kid in town without a Christmas tree
Here's a list of people who are Jewish just like you and me
David Lee Roth lights the menorah
So do James Caan, Kirk Douglas, and the late Dinah Shore-ah

Guess who eats together at the Carnegie Deli
Bowser from Sha Na Na and Arthur Fonzerelli
Paul Newman's half Jewish, Goldie Hawn's half too
Put them together, what a fine lookin' Jew

You don't need "Deck The Halls" or "Jingle Bell Rock"
'Cause you can spin a dreidel with Captain Kirk and Mr. Spock- both Jewish

Put on your yarmulke
It's time for Chanukah
The owner of the Seattle Supersonicahs
Celebrates Chanukah

O.J. Simpson, not a Jew
But guess who is? Hall of famer Rod Carew- he converted
We got Ann Landers and her sister Dear Abby
Harrison Ford's a quarter Jewish- not too shabby

Some people think that Ebenezer Scrooge is
Well he's not, but guess who is
All three Stooges
So many Jews are in showbiz
Tom Cruise isn't, but I heard his agent is

Tell your friend Veronica
It's time to celebrate Chanukah
I hope I get a harmonicah
Oh this lovely, lovely Chanukah
So drink your gin and tonicah
And smoke your marijuanikah
If you really, really wannakah
Have a happy, happy, happy, happy Chanukah
Happy Chanukah

Whenever I hear the old classics, it makes me think Christmas, but I also like "Making Christmas" and "What's This?" from Nighmare Before Christmas because my children and I all sing along with them and it just makes me smile.

All of the above, plus Silver Bells, Chestnuts Roasting by an Open Fire, and let's not forget that great musical masterpeice..."Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer."  :->>  Strangley enough I find myself thinking of Nancy Pelosi when I hear this song.  Gotta' get back in touch with my shrink I guess. lol

I love all the traditional classics. I love "White Christmas" by Bing Crosby( White Christmas is my favorite Christmas movie as well!),"Winter Wonderland" by Frank Sinatra, anything by the Vienna Boys Choir is amazing, and last but not least "Silent Night" by myself! lol Any of these get me into the holiday spirit.

Ooops I got my singing cowboys confused.  It was Gene Autry not Roy Rodgers.  I also loved Nat King Cole too.

my all time favorite Christmas carol is by Nat King Cole, i think it is titled a Christmas carol.  You know chestnuts roasting on an open fire.  We had a Burl Ives album that was played when i was a kid.  I love it.  My mom was big on Christmas carols.  Elvis Presley Christmas songs are great too!!! Thanks for taking me back

When I was little my parents had a huge record player.  Every Christmas i would pull out their LP copies of Mario Lanza Christmas music and Roy Rodgers too.  My favorites from those are We Three Kings by Mario Lanza and Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer by Roy Rodgers.  I've tried to find them on CD but have had no luck.  Those two records will always make me feel like Christmas is near.  Of course the music wouldn't be complete without all of the pops and crackles from the monstrous record player.
