Valentine's Day and romance
Do you have a favorite romantic movie? (Who could resist The Notebook...)
Do you plan to send flowers to a special Valentine? If so, will you send roses or something less traditional? (Like lillies or orchids...) Should more women send men flowers on Valentine's Day? (Would men want to receive flowers from their Valentines?) 9 comments from 6 users

I think my hubby and canibeyou's are brothers under the skin! I am so lucky to have him! He and I are doing our "Valentine" thing on Saturday night, our 2-month anniversary. He says he has something really special planned; I can't wait! He is really good at the romance thing. nyarla, I have 4 kitties: Diesel, the gray one, OzzFest, the fluffy one watching Diesel climb under the fridge, Ozzy's sister, Sargie, who looks like him but smaller, and BigKitty, a positively huge orange tabby (about 21 lbs) that adopted us when we moved into this house about 18 months ago. BigKitty is the only one of my cats who is outside, and that is because he flatly refuses to come in! They are all rescues, but I would not be surprised if Ozzy and Sargie have some ragdoll or snowshoe in them. posted by

Next time my boyfriend wants sex, I will have him do some work around the house first. I need a copy of that study. lol Berkeley did a similar study about 5 years ago stating that of all smells, men were most sexually aroused by the smell of lavender... that's probably why my boyfriend always has his nose in my hair, I use lavender shampoo. posted by

Oh, Gawd...Wuthering Heights...I nearly forgot that one! The original is, of course, a classic, but have you seen the more recent version with Timothy Hutton? It is darker but more true to the actual story. While on the subject of classic romance, does anyone remember "The Ghost and Mrs. Muir"? Rex Harrison, Gene Tierney. Great flick. BTW, nyarlathotep, I LOVE your kitty pic. He's beautiful. posted by

Siince he was out of town for our first Valentine's Day, when we'd just started seeing each other, Valentine's 2006 was the first that my husband and I were together. I worked so hard making him a romantic dinner, getting all fixed up, making him a card, and, yes, having flowers delivered for him at work. However, on Valentine's, he seemed so uncharacteristically blase' over the whole thing (he is normally very romantic) that I wondered what I had done wrong. Well, a few days later, he finally let me in on the secret: he hates Valentine's Day. He had never said so before, but he and his ex were married on that day! His was an extremely nasty divorce, and she treated him badly during the marriage, so Valentine's only serves as a reminder of what he considers the biggest mistake he ever made! Needless to say, we pick our own day to get romantic and leave the traditional Valentine's Day alone. And yes...he enjoys getting flowers, but he prefers plants, as do I. They don't die like cut flowers, unless, of course, my husband lets me near them! He is the one with the green thumb, not I. posted by
