I hope the school board moves slowly, albeit steadily, in resolving issues it may have. I did look at that agenda, ruralvoice, and I noticed that the item you mentioned has actually been placed ahead of the "public comment" section. Are they going to debate and make a decision on this without the public having an opportunity to participate? Yes, this does seem a little strange. I wonder if the News editor can shed any light on what the "board protocols" are. I am still irked that the Board used a "no cause" provision to release the Sup (so my comments might be slanted--I don't know; sorry if they are)--had they used a "for cause" reason they wouldn't have had to pay $220,000+ (for all that was said about Dr. Stephens, and all the reasons everyone seemed to have to release her, how come a "for cause" reason wasn't used---wasn't there a justifiable cause [I didn't see the school board state any cause]?).

Curious observation: I noticed in the first attachment (agenda1.doc), there is scheduled action to "suspend Board protocols". This sounds like the "constitution" is being suspended, so to speak. I saw it mixed in with a lot of other stuff, and it just caught my eye. I wonder if the Tehachapi News has any info on this topic from the Board president (or, is he still laying low......). This sounds, at first glance, like standards of conduct of something like that are being attempted to be swept aside. With the quick actions by the Board and the long, long meetings (take a look at this agenda: it appears long--at least to the casual observer), I am puzzled at the direction the Board is taking. Just have a funny feeling--seems strange "suspending board protocols" (is a King being put in charge???). The Board may be making great strides, but this one item sure bothered me when I read it.
