Info on Fire
Does anyone have any information on the fire that is burning southeast of Tehachapi? I went to town earlier and saw lots of smoke coming from that area and there has been a helicopter passing over my home probally getting water from Brite lake. Any information would be helpful Thankyou

You're Welcome.  Throughout the day the wind has been blowing the smoke North east for the most part.  No doubt she can smell the fire though.

Thanks for the info!  Newscasts in Northern CA are not reporting on the fire (although they mention 3 others in the state), and the internet info seems to be old.  My daughter is  having too much fun to call me so I have no idea how bad the smoke is in the area, if it's even there at all.

To the best of my knowledge and what has been in the news it is not near the city at all.  Stallion Springs is about 45 minutes west of this blaze.  It is burning in the Southern most hills of Tehachapi within the White Oaks and Willow Springs area.  This is South of Oak Creak North of Backus west of Tehachapi Willow Springs Road.  Perhaps you can Goggle Earth this area to get a better idea.  I don't believe you have anything to worry about in Stallion Springs.  The wind has picked up tremendously and seems to be blowing southeast; opposite of Stallion Springs.

My daughter is at camp in Stallion Springs.  Can anyone tell me how far away that is from the fire?

One of the water bombers helping out with the fire encountered some trouble.  Here is the story:

A few more pics viewing the fire from the southside.

As of 7:00 pm Monday, the  fire is listed at 9100 acres with 30% containment. There are currently 857 personnel assigned to the fire.

Here are a few pics from the Willow Springs side of the blaze.  It has been very busy overhead.  The thundering sounds from the helicopters together with the dark ominous smoke emulates a war zone.

Christine, I am sure the freeway is open so you shouldn't have too much trouble getting into town.  The west side hills off the back road are being evacuated.  The Willow Springs Side of the hills, thus far, are safe.

Cool Pics Greg:

Hi everyone, I am working about 2 hours away, so I would appreciate if if you could keep me posted as I have to come back  early if that blaze gets any closer.

Thanks~ Christine
