Where is the bread?
I went to Albertson's yesterday to pick up a few things that I was out of, one of those things was bread. I noticed there was almost no bread on the shelves and a sign saying that some company is refusing to ship bread to California. I ended up buying the cheapest loaf at $2.50. Does anyone know anything else about this and how or to who do you complain to? I don't want to keep spending $2,.50 for a loaf of bread we use almost 2 loaves a day with breakfast and lunch for 6. 4 comments from 4 users

I'm afraid this is just the tip of the iceberg....more and more products are not going to be available if not made locally due to rising gas/diesel prices and the economy in general. Think about it...how can someone buy land, set up irrigation, plow, fertilize and plant it, pay for water to make it grow, buy harvesting equipment, harvest it, truck it to the mill and have it processed into flour, ship the flour to the bakery, the bakery makes it into bread, then ship the bread to the grocery warehouse, then it is shipped to the local grocery store where it is sold for a "cheap" $2.50 a loaf? I'm afraid we are in for a possible depression. Thank you George Bush!

All I know is that Wonder bread and Millbrook are no longer shipping to Ca. Apparently they were losing to much money to do so. NICE, huh! I think Scott is on to something. I just might have to go get a bread maker.

I don't know what the deal is, but a bread machine is a good investment. :) My wife wanted one so we bought one and we no longer buy bread. Just bread flour. :)
