I am sorry to hear that you are having to go through this with your mother. I went through this with my father he was dignosed and given 6 months to live, he lived for two years before passing away. I was only 12 when he passed away and I think that that was a little easier than if I was to lose a parent now. I was to young to really get it and don't remeber any of the hard things. Enjoy the time you have because it passes too quickly. If I hear of anyone going to Bakersfield I will keep you in mind.

We are enjoying the time we have with her as much as we can. We took her to LasVegas a week ago and had a good time. Tommorow we are having a family birthday party with most of the family there so that will be nice. I lost my father 2 years ago and it took its toll on all of us especially my oldest son. When his Grandma passes it is going to be EXTREMLY difficult on him because he is her baby. We are going to have to get some greif counseling for everyone and do our best to get through it.

eek - yes get counseling for your boy.  My brother died when I was 10 and I didn't realized what an effect it had on me until I was in my late 20's.  It totally changed everything in my family.  I use to blame my parents and wish I had those times back.  Now realizing that I was only a child I have forgiven myself but I have many scars (physical and emotional) that show this.  Also, my son's father killed himself when my son was 4.  I thought we handled it well and we were very open about it to him (Not the actual way he died).  But now my son is regressing some and I am kicking myself in the butt for not getting counseling.  So please, get your boy some help.  No matter how old he is.

Ride share

My mother was diagnosed with cancer of the pancreas in November last year. She finally started her Radiation and Chemo about 2 weeks ago and has about 4 weeks left. And she is driving herself  to bakersfield everyday and i cannot take her everyday.

Is there anyone else in Tehachapi going to Bakersfield daily for these kind of treatments? If so would you be interested in ride shareing? Is there any kind of transportation locally that would provide services daily for something like this?

eek, have you tried calling the local hospices? I also recall a local "Respite" group that operates out of the senior housing - not the senior center. That's what these organizations and groups are there for. Someone might be able to provide rides, in addition to offering you some help with caregiver duties and some time off to gather and care for yourself. Here are some links.
I'll be praying for your mom's recovery and some peace (and joy) for you.
