what dose pro life realy mean
Can someone please explain to me why it is ok to execute a murderer on death row but it's not ok to kill a unborn baby. Shouldn't pro life mean pro life ?..I support the women decision. I do not believe that a man should tell a female what she can do and what she can't do with her body. And I do not believe in the death penalty. We as a society say that killing is wrong , And then what do we do. We kill. How many pro life people believe in the death penalty. Though, I wonder how many people that are all for abortions really know how abortions are performed and all the legal time frames.

When can an abortion be done?Depending on how many weeks pregnant you are, you may have a choice between two or more types of abortion procedures. Medical and surgical methods available differ at each stage of pregnancy. As a pregnancy progresses into the second trimester, only surgical abortion can be used. Risks of second-trimester surgical abortion are higher than risks for first-trimester abortion. Medical abortion, the use of medications to end an early pregnancy, is up to 98% effective within the first 9 weeks of pregnancy. 11 As a pregnancy progresses into the late first trimester, medications are less likely to fully induce an abortion. When this happens, a follow-up surgical abortion becomes necessary to make sure that the uterus is completely clear of tissue.
Medications currently available in the United States for inducing abortion are:
A surgical abortion ends a pregnancy by surgically removing the contents of the uterus. Different procedures are used for surgical abortion, depending on how many weeks of pregnancy have passed. Care before and after a surgical abortion includes a physical examination and lab tests, education about what to expect, self-care instructions, symptoms that indicate you should call your health professional, and birth control planning. Surgical methods in the first trimester (3 to 12 weeks)
Surgical method in the second trimester
A D&E is most commonly used during the second trimester because it has a lower complication risk than induction abortion. Nonsurgical method in the second trimester
Vacuum aspirationVacuum aspiration, also called suction aspiration, is a minor surgical procedure used to clear the contents of the uterus during the first trimester of pregnancy. A thin, hollow tube (cannula) is inserted into the uterus, and a specially designed syringe or pump is used to suction out all tissue contained in the uterus. Manual vacuum aspiration (MVA) can be used between 3 and 7 weeks after the last menstrual period. A hollow tube is passed through the cervix and into the uterus, and a handheld syringe is used to apply suction through the thin tube. MVA can be performed safely in a clinic or medical office setting. Machine vacuum aspiration is the most common abortion method used in the first 6 to 12 weeks of pregnancy. First, the cervix is opened (dilated) and antibiotics are given to prevent infection. A hollow tube (attached to a bottle and pump) is then passed into the uterus, the pump is turned on, and all tissue is gently removed from the uterus. Vacuum aspiration is also used to empty the uterus after an incomplete miscarriage.
Dilation and curettage (D&C)A dilation and curettage (D&C) is a procedure that is done to remove tissue from inside the uterus. During a D&C, the vagina is spread open, and a scraping or suction instrument is passed through the cervix and into the uterus to remove tissue from the lining of the uterus (endometrium). A D&C may be done to:
A D&C is usually done in a hospital without requiring an overnight stay. Pain medication is given before the procedure. Many women choose to have a general anesthetic that makes them unconscious during the procedure. posted by

I myself believe in the death penalty. However, I think only when it is absolutely certain that the person is guilty of the crime they committed. With a hitch. I think it should be left to victims family on what should be done with that person. If killing the SOB would bring closure to them then it should be their right to make the final decision. However, it they are to spend the rest of their lives in prison, I believe they should have absolutely no rights. No family contact, no phone calls, no tv, no rec time, they cannot be rehabilitated for the crime they committed, so why waste energy in making this persons life worth living. Make them wish they were as dead as the child, or person they so brutally murdered. Give them an extra sheet so if they want to hang themselves they can. I think they should have two types of prisons. One for the drug addicts, dealers, drunk drivers etc, those that with "proper rehabilitation can maybe someday be productive citizens" treat them as if they were in rehab. Provide counseling, education whatever it takes help them. Unfortunatly our prison system isn't really set up that way. The other prison would be for those who are molestors, rapists, cold blooded murderers and those of course who want to make prison their home. (3 hots and cot). They don't need to be pampered. They don't need to be entertained. They made their choice let them live there free of charge, feed them peanut butter sandwiches and let them live in the hell they chose for themselves. (I'm not being very liberal here am I) Abortion is a different topic. That's touchy for me. The minute I knew I was pregnant, it was a real living child inside of me. For some however, becoming pregnant is not a positive experience. It's not the right time. Sure they made a mistake and should have been careful. But shoulds just aren't good enough somtimes. Most of us have experienced the fact of "I should have". I'm not sure that deciding on abortion is ever an easy decision to make. I think that a lot of people who have had abortions have looked back on the decision with great heartache and what if's. There are some however that don't feel as if the baby inside them is actually a living being yet. Abortion, that's really tough. I believe a woman has the right to choose what to do with her own body. But I also hope that she knows what she's in for if the guilt sets in. posted by

Thank you for posting that info Colitas! That was a wonderful assessment. I seem to recall one further method- that of saline injection (with a court order)- but I'd have to dig out my school books to find it. And frankly, I'm lazy today :) And I admit one further thing that influenced my abortion position greatly. About two years ago my doctor gave me a tentative diagnosis of infertility. (Thankfully it was wrong!) But it was absolutely emotionally wrenching to think of women going to a clinic to have a life taken out of them when some women would give anything just to be able to carry a child. It just doesn't seem fair. I know, a terrible departure from an objective argument, but there you have it. It seems impossible to separate this issue from emotions and personal experience. Though oddly enough, I have absolutely no problem with RU-486 and it's like. Maybe because it has to be taken so early. I'm not sure. But I wouldn't disagree to it being sold without prescriptions even. posted by

careful madkow, jim might come in and put you in his basket of "evil doers", you are showing signs of reason...hee hee. And I could be wrong but I don't they use saline anymore. They use to but not anymore. Again, I believe this is a personal choice, hence "Pro Choice". Everyone has their own experiences and reasons for their views on this. I've known many people who can not have children and would be wonderful parents. Then there are the ones who have child after child with no resources and a bad environment. (substance abuse, baby after baby born addicted to something, physical abuse, etc) This too can be emotionally wrenching. How many children does this country have in foster care, orphanages, homes (like the Jamison Center), homeless centers, etc? Do we need more unwanted children? Who suffers? The child does. It is one thing to already have children and fall on hard times. But it's a whole another ball game to keep having children. We have to take responsibility for our own actions. Whether right or wrong. Crap....here comes my conservative side coming out. But then again I am the fence rider..ha ha.

Education....I find it extremely hard to believe that most people having sex are not educated about how people get pregnant. I highly doubt they think that only married people have babies or that the stork is still dropping off babies. Now as far as education on sexually transmitted diseases, etc. I couldn't agree more, but do you honestly think that if you were to ask a sexually active person how someone gets pregnant they'd say, "I don't know?" Come on! Peacetoyou......No, I don't think people are getting pregnant so they can experience an abortion, but if you believe abortion is an option(sorry to inform you) you are "pro abortion". Pro-Choice= the choice to keep the baby, put up for adoption or abort... IOW you believe the woman has the choice to decide if her child lives or dies depending on the choice she makes. Pro-Life= The choice to keep the baby or put up for adoption.....you still have a choice, BUT abortion, or the right to terminate your pregnancy isn't an option. I noticed there wasn't any info on partial birth abortion. Why? I have to admit that I've found it very alarming that many people do not realize the development of an unborn child. It happens A LOT sooner than most people want to believe. That is something more people should be educated about! posted by

countygirl- I think you'd be surprised (perhaps appalled) to find out how uneducated people are as to pregnancy. One of my college professors (for human sexuality) volunteered at a youth center teaching teenage mothers. More than half of them believed that they couldn't get pregnant from having sex for the first time. Most of them believed in the coke myths (like coke douches) and withdrawal method as effective birth control. Unscientific survey, but sadly telling of the ignorance that ineffective sex ed and unwilling/uninformed parenting can cause.And I think partial-birth abortion is illegal. Thank God, because that was one of the most horrible things I've ever heard of! *shudder* posted by

Well, here I go into my little utopian dream world (lol), but it would be nice if women could make informed decisions about sex (and there would of course be no rape), abortion would be unnecessary, and the children in foster care and adoption agencies would be well taken care of by their community. It's sad that my husband and I have thought quite a bit about taking in foster children but we are afraid of our own inexperience and of the potential for dysfunction in the children (and their influence over our children if they are "bad seeds"). I see the failure to care for neglected children as a failure of every single one of us. I think it is the responsibility of us all to ensure that children are properly cared for (fed, cared for, and raised in a safe and loving family). And abortion or adoption should never replace effective birth control.Just yesterday, my husband and I were eating at a restaurant and there was a mother and daughter seated behind us. They were talking loudly (couldn't help overhearing their conversation), but we heard the mother say, "You can sleep with all the guys you want but the one that gets you pregnant is always the one with no job who doesn't care about you." (The daughter was pregnant, by the way.) Wonderful motherly talk there! posted by

You should ask yourself why do you feel it is okay to kill innocent babies yet it is not okay to execute convicted murderers? That will help you see a little deeper into your own soul. Lets make a deal. Pro-lifers will agree to stop executing convicted murderers, approx 10 per year) if the baby killers will stop murdering innocent babies, approx 1 million per year. foolseznogod i don't think it is alright to kill unborn babies. That being said i also don't believe that a man or the government should have the right to tell a female what to do with her body. To me it is no different then a country telling a female that she has to get a abortion. Its her body her choice. That's why i support Pro Choice. There are a lot of people that support Pro-life but then turn around and support capital punishment. That's sounds like a oxy moron to me.I don't think it is right for the government to take a life. So in a perfect world no one would be murdered. |
