This holiday season our family is missing our older generation women. But I did make alot of the older recipes that either my Mom or Grandma would of made ( did'nt taste a thing like what they made) and it brought back alot of good memories for me. I feel blessed to of gotten these recipes handed down to me.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone.  I'm hoping today is a good day for everyone.  I spent all day yesterday baking.  Today it's all about seeing family.  My mom cracks me up.  She called me yesterday and told me she had a bag of instant potatoes and ask if I thought we could use them.  I had to gently tell her that if I made instant potatoes, my kids would hang me.  She is bringing her dressing which I grew up on and absolutely LOVE!!!  Can't wait.  My kids won't eat instant potatoes but they will eat Stove Top.  To me....it's the same thing.  Why would anyone choose instant dressing over the real thing?  So, I'm making stove top for the kids.

When Mom arrives she is going to try to take over all of it.  And that's OK...I'll have to keep a good eye on her, because she tries to sneak things in....like pouring the potatoe water into my gravy.  My daughter makes the mashed potatoes every year, because she does it so well, she puts just the right amount of milk and butter in them and whips them like a mad woman.  Every year I have to remind Mom that Robyn does the mashed potatoes.  Just leave them alone and when they are ready, Robyn will tend to them.

I bought plastic cups and plastic plates, because I know my mother.  She will barely have her meal eaten before she is at the kitchen sink trying to clean up.  I'm sure she is going to have a hard time watching us throw all that plastic out.  She's going to want to wash it.  I just may have to let her so that it doesn't cause her too much distress.

So..while today is going to be a challenge for the "generations" to work together.  I'm glad we have the opportunity to have the "generations"  get together and fight it out for who is going to do what.  You never know if it will be the last holiday with one of the "older" generations.  So I hope everyone gives thanks that they are able to spend the holidays with their elderly relatives and bow down to their way of doing things.

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone! I'm gettin' ready to head on home & start the preparations. Turkey's already brining, and I don't think I'll need to make a last minute stop at the store. Take it easy & don't eat too much!
