Each year the Border Patrol makes more than a million apprehensions of aliens who flagrantly violate our nation's laws by unlawfully crossing U.S. borders. Such entry is a misdemeanor, but, if repeated, becomes punishable as a felony.

The US and Mexican governments actively entice illegal immigrants to enter this country and to work illegally for profit-hungry U.S. employers.

"The correct terminology for the nearly 20 million persons illegally in the U.S. is illegal aliens. The term undocumented immigrants is purposely incorrect in order to sway the public in favor of special interest groups and only clouds the reality of the situation... The term illegal alien is broader and more accurate because it includes undocumented aliens and nonimmigrant visa overstayers. ...the term illegal alien, being broader in scope, is the accurate term to use. In that immigrant connotes legality, the term illegal immigrant is really an oxymoron."

Apologists for illegal immigration try to paint it as a victimless crime, but the fact is that illegal immigration causes substantial harm to American citizens and legal immigrants, particularly those in the most vulnerable sectors of our population — the poor, minorities, and children.

The United States needs to stop illegal immigration by cracking down on employers who hire illegal aliens. By doing this, the incentive for people to illegally come and stay here in the United States would be removed. The employers and corporations who were hiring illegals would be forced to offer living wages, and in a short time, these jobs that Americans supposedly won't do would be filled by those Americans who used to do them (and even paid taxes while doing them).

Illegal alien, also known as an 'Undocumented Alien,' is an alien who has entered the United States illegally and is deportable if apprehended, or an alien who entered the United States legally but who has fallen 'out of status' and is deportable."

There must be a comprehensive effort to end illegal immigration. That requires ensuring that illegal aliens will not be able to obtain employment, public assistance benefits, public education, public housing, or any other taxpayer-funded benefit without detection.

As it has become the favorite entry point for undocumented migrants trying to sneak into the United States, Arizona has become a laboratory for whether a state can single-handedly combat illegal immigration.

After granting amnesty to illegals 20 years ago, we have gone from 3 million illegals to 15-20 million illegals. Our government has been fooled once by this amnesty argument, let us not be fooled again

Be a true blue American and turn in an illegal alien today.

Gube, a wall will not stop illegal immigration across the Mexican/USA border.  There was a picture, recently, of a portion of the Mexican side of the existing wall somewhere in New Mexico (I think).  Do you know what was on that Mexican side of the wall?  It was a homemade, sturdy ladder.

Perhaps the answer is to make life in Mexico more economically appealing so their citizens won't feel driven to cross over to the USA to try to improve their lot.  Mexico is a treasure trove of natural resources.  They are left undeveloped when they could be used to make it a very rich country.  There are many factors involved in this neglect by the Mexican Government of the Mexican peoples.  Of course, they are all political reasons.

BTW, did you know that over 70% of the oil imported into the USA comes from Canada?  Why are we led to believe that Saudi Arabia is the one controlling the supply?:

As far as our genius president is concerned, go to bartcop.com and read all about it.

swilli you are right a wall is not the only answer but until we have a wall that cuts Mexico off from the US all other measures will fail. Cutting of the jobs that illegal work is what will work. A simple finger print program would work. If you are here legally then you would be required to Submit a fingerprint and when you apply for a job well no matcho no jobo. We have already sent millions of jobs out of this country. Most were good paying jobs that are now low paying. Mexico's plan is to send all there unskilled and uneducated to this country. Its not like we are getting the cream of the crop, where not. Tough decisions and actions are needed on both sides of the border. I just don't like it when we don't hold Mexico responsible for their citizens. And I don't like it that people like me are made the bad guy because all we want are existing immigration laws followed. Mexico strictly enforces their immigration laws so why is it wrong for this country to enforce ours.

Good point about the oil.

By encouraging its citizens to violate our border, Mexico is pushing a tremendous welfare burden off of its shoulders and onto ours, while also benefiting from the significant sums of U.S. currency that these workers will eventually send back home to their families.

deporting aliens is as easy as one, two, three. The next time you hear [U.S. President] George W. Bush or [U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security] Michael Chertoff say how impossible immigration enforcement is, remember this simple formula: one, go to where you know aliens are; two, arrest them; three, deport them. Don’t bother asking where aliens hang out. The better question is where aren’t they hanging out. Go to a bus stop, a taco truck, a convenience store, the post office or an auto repair shop. No need to round them all up at once. Just arrest one or two every day at different locations around town and the message will soon get out."

Wow Gube, you went all on this one.

I agree with you 110%. But I have to ask this one important question. After we have deported all the illegal aliens, where are all the farmers going to get replacement workers?

From the time I was 12 years old to 17; I work on farms in NC. Today kids can't get jobs until age 16. Some of the farmers in NC recently told me; today's kids don't want to work hard labor on farms. I doubt there are many non-Hispanic people that are willing to work out in the fields either. I surely don’t won't to do that again.
