Hispanics want Dane County to stop telling feds about illegal immigrants

What a bunch of crap. If they are here illegaly then they should be reported and deported

Hispanics want Dane County to end its 30-year-old policy of telling the feds about the illegal immigrants they book into jail.

More than 100 people attended a public hearing in Madison Monday night to protest the practice.

Concerns were raised after the number of jail inmates held for questioning by federal immigration authorities rose to 12 last November, and 20 last October.

Normally, it’s only about 6 per month.

Dane County Sheriff Dave Mahoney says it’s good public policy for different areas of law enforcement to work together.

Civil rights advocates say people risk being deported for as little as driving without a license.

Janet Parker of the Wisconsin Network for Peace and Justice says it discourages folks from cooperating with the police or even ask for their help when they need it.

Mahoney assured the crowd his deputies never deny emergency help to anyone, regardless of their backgrounds.

bjeannie i couldn't agree with you more. It drives me crazy that some people feel that illegals are spacial. That we as Americans should just shut-up and except all illegal immigrants with open arms. After all they are just poor simple folks that are just looking for a chance to give their children a better life blah blah blah.

They are criminals that have committed a crime when the entered this country illegally.

They are not spacial people they are criminals!

I will not be fooled by all the political correctness BS!

I really do believe that the illegal immigration problem is the # 1 problem that America faces today!

It still amazes me that some support this criminal activity!

It also amazes me that I am attacked by some for speaking out against this illegal activity!

Some people need to check their loyalty to America!

Do you believe what the civil rights advocates are saying in the above article? It sounds like the fact that immigrants are here illegally is being completely disregarded. What about breaking the law when they jumped the border? They don't "risk being deported for as little as driving without a license"'; they are being deported for being in this country illegally.
