Is california next?
California needs to pass our own immigration laws. Its time that we take back our state from people that don't belong here. Enough is Enough its time to get tough with illegals and its time that they be arrested and deported.Local control of immigrationWith a failing state budget and decreasing local tax revenue, the problem of illegal immigration needs to be addressed once and for all.
The impact on our schools, hospitals, services and quality of life can no longer be ignored. Our local politicians, including the Santa Barbara County Board of Supervisors and the Santa Maria City Council, seem to be all too willing to pass the buck to the federal government regarding enforcement of immigration law. The fact is that our local government has the responsibility and authority to greatly increase enforcement - if they had the will to do so. Many other counties/cities across the nation are doing so now, and our local government should be following their lead, rather than burying their heads in the sand. I think that most people know that illegal immigration has gotten way out of hand. The question is, when are our representatives going to stop passing the buck and offering excuses, and truly represent the citizens and the taxpayers of Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo counties? C. I couldn't agree more! I think one of the reasons nothing is happening in Santa Barbara County is there are too many Hollywood liberals living there. They have control on the county. posted by

Liberals don't want illegals here... I'm a Liberal... Heck so is Gube I think.. lol It's been the Republicans that let this get out of hand... heck in the last 10 years I have notice the illegals in this country are living in better homes and driving better cars than I am.. What's up with that? This wasn't the case in the Clinton years, back then I had more money and a better car.. The truth is I think both Democrats and Republicans want something done, but only the Democrats will do something about it. Big companies and farmers sure don't. posted by

Yes sparks I am a liberal with a splash of conservatism.........lol Now that Arizona has poven that something can be done about the illegal immigrant invasion California needs to act. For years we have been told that the illegals are here to stay and that we just need to get used to it. Well that's not so true any more. In Arizona the illegals aren't just leaving the state because lack of jobs but also to avoid arrest many are actually going back to Mexico or their home countries. Many states are following Arizona's example and have or are passing legislation attacking their illegal immigrant problem. I have no doubt California will be the last state to consider such legislation. We will probably end up with all the illegal from the US coming to California to live because our politicians are a bunch of wusses and refuses to do the right thing and that is pass laws to force the illegals to leave our state on their own. posted by

Sorry Job, this is something you can't pass the buck on to liberals. I am a liberal, like Sparks, and I do not want any one who is illegally in my country to be able to stay and take from me and mine. posted by

Joty, go back and re-read what I said. I did not generalize the use of liberals. I was very specific. Of course there are liberals wanting this problem to be fixed. posted by

No. There is a difference between Hollywood liberals living in Santa Barbara county than those living in Tehachapi or anywhere else all that matters. I also said that is one of the reasons.
