To hell with it..............

In 1994 the voters of California voted to deny illegal immigrants social services, health care, and public education...........A Federal court overturns the election setting the stage for the massive invasion of illegal aliens...

The Country highest court appointed Bush in 2000.

Yesterday by a vote of 4 to 3 California top court  overturns the election results banning gay marriage. Once again the will of the people is dashed by 4 people in robes..

I don't care one way or another if gays want to marry each other........In fact I kinda like it because I get a kick of the religious right reaction to gay marriage. I think it's funny when they spew at the mouth..........anyway.

I think I am done with voting.....Whats the point of voting if your vote doesn't count.

I'm with you gube...it doesn't bother me either if gay people get married and i do love to see the religious reaction as well(the reasoning leads to highly entertaining reactions) :-D...but it does disappoint me tremendously that the peoples vote can be overturned if it's not favorable just like that....my mother is an immigrant to this country and she is a legal resident alien, she doesn't believe in voting and has always told me it doesn't seem to make a difference if you vote or not, that's why she didn't go all the way to become a total citizen, because the only things she's not allowed to do as a legal resident alien is basically voting and jury duty (neither of which most of us want to do lol)...i now understand her reasoning

Gube, since when is voting connected with courts deciding points of law? The majority doesn't vote decisions of law. While I may also be frustrated because the courts didn't echo my view, I realize the court is there to make decisions on the basis of an interpretation of the constitution and to decide matters when the perceived rights of one person overlaps the perceived rights of another. In reality, the majority make the laws (which must stand constitutional muster), but the courts are there to interpret and also to protect the rights of the minority. This is similar to the democratic process in running a meeting under Robert's Rules of Order. The rules are there to lend and organized operational process, but their mission is actually to protect the rights of the minority (to speak and be heard, etc.). I wouldn't decide to not vote simply because courts render decisions. Who is to say you or I are right over someone else's view? Courts make decisions and they evolve over time. I would not get discouraged, just try to understand and use the information to be more motivated and to motivate others. That would be my suggestion.
