Do we really need more government in our lives

News Story: U.S. government: We know parenting better than you

So how far down the Marxist path are we going to go before the American population wakes up? The more and more it looks I would say when the knocks on the doors start. This is where I truly believe Obama will take us and the current Congress is proving it with every law they try to pass.

What scares me in this story is that it would allow the government to enter your house to check how you are raising your kids. This is without a reason that makes any since, no reason due to criminal activities, or with a warrant.   They can just come in and perform tests and evaluate your child and how you raise your child.

So what could be so wrong? If you have a problem with it you must be hiding something!

Bull!!!

It is about control over your life from birth to death. What happens if the government nurse decides that they don't like how you are raising your kids because you dislike the President?  Or how about not being Green enough? Sorry but it has happened in the past under the guise of education, but at that time we called it Nazi indoctrination.

Again, I'm being the optimist here.  America swings back and forth, liberal to conservative.  Will America dissolve if Obama wins?  Of course not.  Will it fall apart if McCain gets in? No.  It will be just fine.  Granted, we could use a little more liberty than we have now... but that's why we should put Libertarians in office ;)

Madkow, To be honest, if I didn't dislike Obama's views so much that I want to keep him out of office the way I do, I would vote for a Libertarian this year. Neither McCain or Obama are what I like, but I don't see a third party that can beat Obama right now. But as for your optimism  goes, I wish I had it.

Good Lord, the blogs on this sight are getting insane!

Oh....the blog was written by a Raider fan.  NOW I get it!

jer72,

I would suggest you get your information from more than just one source, especially if that source is World Net Daily.

Are you under the impression this is a mandatory program for all families in the US?

Do you think Head Start is a good program for kids & families?

Are you under the impression that warrantless intrusion into US citizens' lives isn't occuring already?

http://www.washingtonwatch....

I'm thinking right now about that missing toddler in Florida, who's mother waited 5 weeks before informing anyone that her child had been "kidnapped." I wonder if the situation would be different, if her mother had enrolled in one of these programs. Even her own family didn't know what was going on.

oochild, you're awesome!  You actually take the time to give a reasoned response while I'm sitting here crying from laughter.  Thank you for informing others with a well thought out opinion.

Madcow, President Bush is proof that if you choose unwisely our nation can take a turn for the worse.  It may not drastically impact  you personally in terms of day to day living, but it if you pay attention to our nations infrastructure (the economy, foreign policy) you'll discover that Bush has driven us straight into the toilette.

*blushes*  Thanks, Vader.

I truly, sincerely hope jer72 answers my questions. So often, they get ignored.

Yeah, doesn't jer72 know that there's a government agency that currently exists called "Child Protective Services" that can take neglected kids away from their parents?  AHHHHH RUUUUN AWAY WE LIVE IN NAZI GERMANY!

Everyone,

This blog is a perfect reason you should not blog while tired and feeling bad. I broke my own rules and didn't do the research I would have normally done. This morning I went back a checked out the HR 2343 like I should have yesterday. Although I still think the bill itself goes farther than I believe is good, I went over board. However, I will hold to the fact that I don't believe we as parent should allow people to come into our house to check our children the way that stated in the bill itself (http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-b...).

I also will stand by my comments about how I feel the country is going and how I feel about Obama.

Past that, since I appeared to be out of my normal yesterday, I leave it to my fellow blogger to tell me to delete the blog or not.

And what is it about Obama that you don't like?

posted by oohchild on Jul 25, 2008 at 09:43 AM

Please don't delete this blog, jer72; that's just another form of denial.

Instead, learn from it. Answer the questions put to you in a thoughful & educated manner.

Vader,

I just don't trust him. Not to say I trust McCain either, but I feel Obama is far to much to the left. I would have much more been comfortable if Hillary would have gotten the nod. In fact the only reason I will vote for McCain is to keep Obama out. Otherwise I would have voted for a third party this year. My opinion is based on his speeches and not the news storys of either.

Ohhchild,

That was my plan. I have said it before that I won't delete stuff I blog. I believe that you can either live or die by what you say. I also believe that you can only gain respect from your friend and foes is to be honest and admit your faults. I did edit one word on it because I felt the admins might have deleted the blog if I didn't.

Jer I think you stated it well!  "This blog is a perfect reason you should not blog while tired and feeling bad."  It took a real person to admit this.  I feel the intent behind this measure is to try and put family first in peoples life.  Too many parents don't have a clue as to what a family is, and do not make children the primary focus of life. This may be due to lack of extended family available as well as so many parents working too many hours to deal with their children.  This program is meant to help children and families, not harm them.

Oohchild I have been and will continue to be a supporter of Head Start.  But from working at Head Start 10 yrs ago, I came to realize (ON NO I CAN HEAR GUBE ALREADY!) it has become a program for predominantly illegal aliens children.   Out of 60 children enrolled, it was 90% children that were from Mexican families.  Due to the low income qualification, they had no problem lying about their income or not counting the live in fathers income toward qualification.  Many said dad was not around yet he picked up the kids everyday!  The American citizens realized the legal repercussions as to giving false info, so their kids were not enrolled as many made just over the income qualification.

I think people are drawn to Obama because they see him as a leader who will try to undo the damage that Bush has done.  He is alot like Robert Kennedy in that he has a charisma about him, he is young and he really believes what he says.  Whether or not the politicians will tie his hands once he is in office, similar to what happened to Hillary when she tried to fix the health care crises, will determine his effectiveness.

I'm not one to support Rodney King but he did sum it up in "Why can't we all just get along?"  Unless all politicians put aside there differences and think what is best for this country and how can we save it from economic ruin and certain global devastation, it is going to continue in a downward spiral.

And I won't hold it against you if you are a Raiders fan...at least not much. And keep the blog jer=it will develop a life of its own.

And I get an uneasy feeling about Obama, but I just can't pinpoint why.  Maybe because he is too good to be true. I'm a bit skeptical...

Jer72, you're entitled to your opinion and choices.  I just don't understand how a person would vote for Hillary and not Obama?  They were basically running on the same platform.  If trust is your issue with Obama, why don't you read his books and learn a little bit more about what he stands for?
