jewels - > -> customer service at Albertsons
customer service at Albertsons
so let me tell you this story, Some time ago i was shopping at Albertson's for my sons 21st birthday party.  I spent $364 that day.  With two grocery carts FULL and a keg of beer.  I walked up and down aisles gathering the items i needed.  I was with 2 friends that probably were not your average "citizens".  They wereTattooed and bearded with shaved heads.  For the record, i shopped at Albertsons for years and have never...ever walked out of that store with anything unpaid for.  I spent alot of money that day and regret giving them my business.  A few days later i was visiting with a friend of mine who is an employee there and he told me that some of the employees that day were watching me and making wages (bets) on if i would walk out of the store without paying for my items.  They were laughing and joking and following me around the store without my knowledge.  I was so offended and MAD!!! That is total discrimination due to the way we looked.  I told the Manager at the time and he said he would speak to them.  But you know they probably all joked and brushed it under the rug.  One of the employees a woman, (you know who you are), is still working there and is a manager.

This is from a few years back.  I weighed out some produce on the scale and then went to pay for it.  The produce weighed over a quarter pound more at the checkout scale.  I told the cashier about the discrepancy and later I told a department manager who I knew socially.  The manager's reply was that the difference was deliberate!  I rarely go to Albertson's.

You're right about that being total discrimination.  One question Jewels, do you still shop at Albertson's?

Jewels unfortuantely it happens in every store everywhere. It is sad that people discriminate towards others because of the way the look or the way they may act or sound. I encounter this almost everyday with my 3 children and my Mother. My 3 children are mentally handicapp and my mother talks with a machine. I can take one of my children to any store in Tehachapi and i can almost bet that someone will stop and stare at them because they look a little diffrent or acted diffrent. And my Mother will not even take her machine out to talk in any public place because if someone hears her they stop and stare at her and it makes her very unconfortable. It is just sad that people judge others just because they look or act a little diffrent than they do. We are all diffrent and unique in our own ways.

p.s. I have not seen Blaze on here in a long time is he still arround? And sparks also?

I have shopped at Albertsons since then.  I dont live in Tehachapi anymore.  But when I come up to visit, wherever my son wants to shop is where i go.  The woman (who is now a manager) and the employees involved have to wake up everyday being the people that they are, which is enough for me.  I am grateful that I dont down people or stare or make bets on what a paying customer may do next.  They think that it is ok for them to be that kind of a person, so be it.  I dont choose to live that way.

I have stopped going to Albertsons and Save Mart here  one store is dirty and the other is rude. If I need a gallon of milk or bread I will go to a gas station first. I go down to Bakersfield and shop at WinCo.  More for the money I save and an added bonus  they are all treat me great  there.  Too bad I need to bag myself!!

About TK's comment...I find it hard to believe that the manager would acknowledge that the scales at the registers are intentionally rigged to rip off customers because that is blatantly illegal, but if he did, it should have been reported...

About the blog topic...that behavior is quite disrespectful (don't the emplyees have something better to do?), but then again, what do you expect? People that stand out are often looked down upon. From the other side, I can see why they might be a little suspicious, only because the tattooed, bearded and shaved head combination often times signals a less respectable class of citizens. Just another unfortunate stereotype.

rm6 I wasnt bearded and tattooed....and i shopped in that store on a regular basis.  What do you mean what do i expect?  I expect to be able to shop where i want with who i want and be free to dress and look how i want...thats what i expect.  How am i going to walk out of the store with 2 grocery baskets full of groceries????  It was just a way for them to be prejudiced and closed minded. Come to San Diego, tattoos and bald heads are a common everyday sight.

It wasn't you, it was the people you were with...now I'm not trying to say that what happend was excusable, I'm just saying that, in Tehachapi, those people stand out and that attracts negative attention. Besides, Tehachapi isn't the most tolerant place in California...
