Why delete other peoples blog comments????
I just wondered what the point of these blogs is. I understand that we all have different views and I have seen some pretty heated discussions on this blog site. I recently responded to one of the lengthy blogs, which by the way i dont usually read. It was regarding the Killer Kern. I was not disrespectful except when i told him maybe he needed to prop his eyes open (open his mind), which really isn't disrespectful...just my opinion. Anyway, he deleted all of my comments and only kept the positive comments to his blog. Why would anyone not allow others to voice their opinions, which by the way mine all had valid points. Closed mindedness? Hmmm.

I would recommend that bloggers on the News site ignore the blogs from those who engage in such disrespectful behavior. posted by

rm6~ personally I dont see many blog comments on the above mentioned blogs. I dont think anyone can even get through most of them. I think if more people did read and comment, when they disagree, their comments would have been deleted too. It's just weird. The editor wont delete. She assured me if we were getting out of hand with our comments she would let us know. I guess having your own point of view doesnt sit well with all. posted by

I didn't know this was happening! There has been a couple times I worked hard on a response and it never appeared on the site. I honestly thought I probably did something wrong. So, I had a good response to Sam's take on "My Fair Lady." He titled it "Why can't a women be more like a man." A great piece of wording put to music - I would consider poetry. It wasn't really a disagreement - just my personal take on the male and female roles. I'll be looking to see if my post shows up. posted by

Yea, I had a comment about "Why can't a woman be more like a man," it went like this (I just reposted for the third time): I don't think it's quite right to debase Islam simply because we don't think what they do is right, and while I agree that western civilization is great in that it gives or at least attempts to give men and women equal status, I think it is arrogant to claim that we have the "proper perspective," as there are plenty of other perspectives out there and we are not the judge, jury, and executioner for the whole world. I also think it is false to imply that Christianity had a major role in deciding that women should have equal status compared to men, as it was feminist movements and the liberalization of our society that led to the status that women enjoy today.

I also asked him why he was deleting posts containing opposing opinions, which, guess what?...was deleted...but of course the comment by happymantoday reading "I do not have much time right now to write, but I want to say, 'Thank you, Mr. Heath,' for the fine article" was commended.

WOW! My comment on Sam's "why can't a woman be more like a man," is GONE. So, my way of handling Sammy boy - won't read his articles and obviously, won't respond to his articles. posted by

Wow! I didn't realize the author of the Weedpatch Gazette had gone soooooo far off the "deep end" with deleting MANY MANY comments that were obviously not personal attacks--just disagreement with views. It seems that that has been a past and present practice now that I review the postings. At one point it was my understanding that the author had been an educator. I have little respect for anyone's words when they will not even listen. To dismiss other's views is a disservice and is disrespectful to the field of "education" and rightly casts dispersion on one's motives. I really do not consider someone an educator who would engage in those types of practices; they are really demonstrating ignorance and intolerance. What a shame to have such a twisted outlook on life.

There is an old adage that one should never discuss religion or politics which of course is a fairly antiquated notion. I would submit, that the era in which we live, reinvigorates that adage for those who indulge in much of either. When a president counsels weekly in order to seek spiritual advice from a religious leader who soon thereafter is revealed to be bumpin meth amphetamine with some bronk buster from Colorado, one can understand why HE would hope nobody would discuss either of those topics. *S* People that live in glass houses etc ..... posted by

jewels, hope you don't mind me bumping this thread, but Sam's at it again. I posted several rational posts pointing out his mistaken thoughts on evolution, & now they're gone. I'd just like to point out, like I did on his blog, that evolution and Christianity are compatible & the deity referenced in the Declaration of Independence would have no problem "creating" through evolution. Darwin wrote his basic founding work about evolution decades after the Founding Fathers created this country, so I'm not even sure why Sam even brought that up! Anyway, the film he so kindly supports in his post was created by duping the interviewees & not telling the truth about the production. Google Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed to find out what the participants like PZ Myers & Dr. Eugenie Scott have to say about their interviews. This is how deceivers like the Discovery Institute operate: by not telling the truth to those they intend to mislead. Don't fall for it like Sam has. I'm sure Sam will also delete the other rational responses to his misrepresentations about evolution, like this one from Wiggy: "Hmmm. My post was deleated. I'm not sure why. It was related to the topic and, though critical, very civil - friendly even. Let me try again. Basically it was this: The Expelled movie: Is really just a paranoid conspiracy story, up there with the most outlandish of them. You see, scientists don't stick to ideas they know to be wrong and they don't suppress ideas they suspect may be true. The nature of science is that they criticise all ideas without exception. They can win fame by disproving ideas. That's the great thing about it. It's why it's so good at moving forward. The discovery of new human ancestors: This does not mean evolution is wrong. It just means we have a more complete picture of how we evolved now. That's why the discovery is being celebrated instead of covered up. The opening chapters of Genesis: A lot of Christians, like scientists, can alter their enterpretation of Genesis to deal with scientific evidence. Moderate Christians can practice their religion and accept science without having to stick to a literal reading of the bible. Francis Collins is a Christian who is also the prize winning scientist in charge of the Genome Project. He even wrote a book called The Language of God. I think all Christians interested in this subject should try reading it. I hope this post is ok. Fingers crossed! Wiggy" Sam, why post such nonsense, & why won't you defend it when it's called to the carpet? What is there it hide, if you are truly correct? You just look silly, y'know, & hurt the cause you seem to support. Why can't your God use evolution to create? He's all powerful, right? posted by

I don't know why anyone bothers to comment on Sam's blog. I noticed that Sam deleted some comments today and had to smile. Same old Sam. disagree with Sam and you disappear. Sam thinks he is above the rest of us. Sam wants to be GOD. Heck he's called me a bully a time or two, can you believe that. posted by

Yep, I should've listened to my better judgement. Sam's at the "delete" button again. Here's what I posted in response to his justification of bigotry during WWII: *Against her better judgement, oohchild decides to respond to The Weedpatch* Sam writes: “The only good Jap is a dead Jap!” and not knowing who was a “good Jap” was the legitimate justification for Manzinar. To understand this you had to have been living at the time here in America on that “Day of Infamy” when the Japanese so totally demonized themselves by the sneak attack on Pearl Harbor, you had to be listening to your radio as Roosevelt delivered that speech to Congress damning the Japanese Empire and committing America to war. My father was born & raised in Hawaii; he was 18 & just out of high school when Pearl Harbor was bombed. He was on the other side of the Oahu when the attacked occured & told vivid stories of what he experienced that day. He promptly joined the Army in response to the declaration of war. He would be absolutely disgusted & disagree vehemently with your deduction, Sam. Not everyone considered the Japanese living in this country to be the enemy. posted by

lol oohchild...I managed to read it before he got to the delete button. I don't understand his need to censor, it makes him look like an old fool having a temper tantrum. I guess he hasn't figured out that responses to his blog can be posted elsewhere and he can't delete them. Maybe someone should start a separate blog: Responses to the Weedpatch Gazette |
