Why delete other peoples blog comments????
I just wondered what the point of these blogs is.  I understand that we all have different views and I have seen some pretty heated discussions on this blog site.  I recently responded to one of the lengthy blogs, which by the way i dont usually read.  It was regarding the Killer Kern.  I was not disrespectful except when i told him maybe he needed to prop his eyes open (open his mind), which really isn't disrespectful...just my opinion.  Anyway, he deleted all of my comments and only kept the positive comments to his blog.  Why would anyone not allow others to voice their opinions, which by the way mine all had valid points.  Closed mindedness?  Hmmm.

Samheath is at it again, and Sparks jumps right in in his defense, and backs up his lies with lies of her own, come on sparks, you can do better than that, it is cowardly to delete a post and then say it was a personal attack, no one can see it then, read over some of the comments in this blog about sam deleting comments, it looks like I'm in good company here, just about everyone has had their comments deleted by sam, I could add a few, but the people that posted here already make my point just fine, bloggers like oohchild and Jewels, if you disagree with sam, he deletes your comment, I made no personal attack on him at all, I only posted comments from other bloggers on Huffington post, their words, not mine, to show two sides to the story, there are some ugly comments made daily on huffington post, and it is a extreme left wing blog, not moderate at all, lets be real here, not all comments on Huffington post are Intelligent, as sparks says, they are hateful and cowardly.

While you may have a point about certain posts on the Huffingtonpost website, Starbucks1, those kind of hateful words can be found on every blog out there. Makes no difference if they lean left, right, or middle. As far as I can see, it's just a wash. No one's any cleaner than anyone else. You'd have a legitimate argument, otherwise.

You're right about the frustration in taking the time to respond to a poster, only to find your well-crafted response deleted minutes later for just disagreeing with the poster's position. IMHO, it's as rude & disrespectful as a personal attack. There's plenty of ways to post an article that stands alone, without the ability to let other bloggers comment. To allow posters' comments to be deleted defeats the purpose of this kind of blogging. I hope that one day the TN will modify this site, so there's a way for people like Sam to post their writings without the ability for others to post comments. They can then post over there if they wish to pontificate without comment. I'd rather have an interesting conversation flow from one of my posts, but I guess not everyone agrees.

It seems this blog site is filled with many different people, different cultures, different ideas and different opinions. What a great thing to represent so much diversity in such a relatively small area.

I personally enjoy reading things that oppose my views, to see where other people stand on issues, to shed some light on a different way of thinking/processing something. Some people like to see thier own words on the screen, some people like to get everyone riled up, I'm sure there's an endless list of the different reasons people blog and what thier exact idea of what a blog should be is.

There always have been and always will be people that don't like critisicm. There will be people that don't care what your opinion is and the reasoning behind it. There will be people who oppose your views, your very morals, your religion..... There will be people that delete your posts without taking the time to read through the first sentence.  I don't think that is right but I don;t think the delete button is a bad thing you just need to choose who to respond to and who to ignore. We all seem to know who deletes posts and who doesn't so instead of wasting your own time with a well crafted reply that will only be deleted 13 seconds later, post it to your blog and start a conversation there.

I think Joty's idea  " a separate blog: Responses to the Weedpatch Gazette" is a great one

Starbucks don't call me a liar unless you can back it up, and don't try to scare with me with that "you are the minorty" crap, I can see most people agree with you and that doesn't change my opinion in the least. .  Also,  I read your post on Sam's blog Starbucks, there wasn't much in the post except for a lot of words like f--ck and sh--t and how you hate a liberal online News site that Sam happens to admire.   And although as you probably know I never delete comments on my own Blogs (I love a good debate).. Sam has a right, whether any of us like it or not, to delete comments he doesn't want on his blog.  Freedom of Choice.  He loves posting his stories, he puts a lot of work into his collection of stories,  and his blog means a very lot to him.  Thus, if you don't like that he deletes negative comments or obsessive rants than my advice to you is to not go to his blog anymore.  The solution is REALLY that simple. (smile)

I had no idea that Sam was deleting comments, personally I wish he would have left your comment up for everyone to read, because my response to your post (below) looks kind of weird now.. There is no crazy ranting to go above it.  I was shocked to see he had deleted your post, but I left my comment in place anyway. I wasn't responding to his blog anyway, I was responding to your comment that was full of cuss words and hatred. Please feel free to post your rant on this blog.   lol

"Starbucks, I read Huffington Post all the time and I like to think of myself as a fair person with integrity.   I don't know what you are reading, but the Huffington Post in my opinion is one of the most honest online political sites that I have ever read.  Your EXTREME hatred for this news site shows bad behavior on your part. Thus, it's not likely anyone is going to take your opinion seriously or with any merit.  The truth is that people who blog on the Huffington Post have their opinions just like people on this blog do and that is their right, just as it is your right to bash Arianna. The only difference is that most people on the Huffington Post do their bashing in a more intelligent manner."

oooh i totally agree...whats the point of having forum if someone can't express their opinion about a blog without the worry that it will be deleted because it wasn't to the liking of the publisher? Granted, i understand deleteing someone's comment who's totally over the line but comeon, the point of having this is so we can see others opinions and be open-minded, by deleteing comments we don't get that...communist much??? Chill-out people and if don't like someones comment, so what? get over it, give them a negative comment back if it makes you feel better, but don't delete their opinion...just cause you don't like it doesnt make it any less valuable or worthy.....sounds like insecurity to me....just saying (please dont delete my comment!) lol :-) have a good day!

Sparks, you and Sam both grossly misrepresented what I said, my post was to show what Huffinton post is really like, it is a extreme left wing opinon web page, not a news page, LOL, it is known for anti-semetic remarks also, that is what my post was about, how they had to turn off the comments about the violence in Jeruselem blog, because too many huff posters put up anti-semetic comments, its a fact, and what I posted on Sam blog were comments FROM THE HUFFINTON POST, yea, there were alot of cuss words, THEIR WORDS, NOT MINE,as you try to say here, thats your first lie,  thats the point I was making, how angry the people on the blog can be, and you say how I wrote I hate online liberal news, I never said that, second lie,  you agreed with sam that I was making personal attacks on him, third lie, tell the truth Sparks, lies will only make you look bad here, it seems you are the only one here thats agrees that sam should delete comments if people disagree with him,, well, at least you have him on your side,

links about anti-semetic Huffington posts,,,,read and learn,

The Huffington Post

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Huffington Post (often referred to on the Internet as HuffPo or HuffPost) is a liberal online news website Because of the prominence and access of its contributors, the HuffPost regularly publishes scoops of current news stories, otherwise providing links to selected prominent news stories, providing a left-of-center counterpoint .

Now, there is nothing wrong with being a left wing blog and comment page, just admit what it is,,,,,,

Starbucks...OH PLEASE, you are too funny.  I have seen you argue and cuss with many people who don't believe exactly as you do.   You act like Huffington Bloggers are the only ones that cuss... have you seen some of your posts???

I'm a liberal, it's doubtful that I agree with much of what you believe...so just deal with that.  The arguing and ranting and raving is getting old.

Truthfully if you would go about giving your opinions without bigotry and outrageous rants, and perhaps just voice your disapproval in a more intelligent manner, I would honestly give it another look.

No one said that the Huffington Post isn't left-winged.  I'm liberal, that's why I read it.  Again, in my opinion, a very honest News site.  I'm sorry you don't like the site, but you don't have to be belligerent to convey that message, it certainly didn't help to sway me at all.

I suppose I should stop talking about the Huffington Post and stick with the topic... I don't care if people delete their comments, it's their right, although it is very likely that I will not comment on any of their blogs if they do indeed delete comments for no apparent reason other than they are negative ones.  I didn't know Sam deleted a lot of comments, I thought he just deleted yours because of all the cuss words., and I had no problem with that.

Now, I'm not going to waste any of my precious time continuing to argue with you on this topic.  I have seen how you can go on and on and on and on when it comes to arguing and bashing liberals...   Just reply to this message and move on... because I am already done with this discussion.

Sparks, are you off your medication or something?,  first, name one blog where I was cussing at people, I cant think of one, second, again, you are grossly misrepresentating what I wrote on sams blog, is that the only way you can debate me?, to lie about what I said?, look at my previous post,  "What I posted on Sam blog were comments FROM THE HUFFINTON POST, yea, there were alot of cuss words, THEIR WORDS, NOT MINE,  I don't need to cuss to make a point, and where is the bigotry and outrageous rants from me you talk about?, why are you making this up just to make me look bad?, I thought you were smarter than that,  it seems I was wrong, I know many liberals, some in my family and they dont ever create hostility like you are doing here,  what i was doing was just giving another view of the Huffington post, is it all bad?, no but do they only present the left view on topics?, yes, I think both sides to issues should be looked at, now, chill out and think about what you are saying here and stop putting words in my mouth, it is making you looked very childish.

Starbucks1, wanna see how angry & disgusting some people on the right can be? I present you with this site:

http://www.freeconservative...

Regarding the death of Molly Ivins, a liberal icon, this is a sample of what these people had to say:

"I am aware that it is in bad taste to speak ill of the dead ----- Too BAD!

This crazy Bitch spewed her poisen for years, telling lies and bashing every conservative from Texas. I will not miss her and I am not sorry that she died."

"Face it, some people deserve to be dead. Now, she is one of them. She was truly a vile individual with a heart and soul as rotten and as black as a demon. She will not be missed at all. If they decide to bury her diseased carcas, it wouldn't surprise me if someone was to shit on her grave. She really was a horrible human. It is good that she is no longer on earth. I'm glad she's dead."

"Poor taste or not, when Jimmah Cartah kicks, I'm going to dance in the streets and pass out candy. I'm also going to come here to FC and call that SOB everything but a white man.

If I ever had any good manners, I'll lose them on the day that Peanut Farmer breathes his last.

Fidel? Blah.

We all know that SOB is evil. He's never made an secret of his evil.

Cartah on the other hand professes [and is protrayed] as such kind soul, the winner of the Nobel Peace Prize, so well reasoned, so smart.

We all know he's a bitter old America Bashing Anti-Semite who has been working for longer than any of us know for the downfall of Israel.

Someday the old Closet Queen will have to meet his Maker. Whatever's between him and his God will be, but I intend to shout and dance and sing, and high five everyone I meet."

There's plenty of blame to go around, dear. Don't think you have the moral high ground just because a few bloggers on Arianna's website use language of which you disapprove. Conservatives & Republicans use bad language too, or are you forgetting Dubya's "Major league a$$hole" comment or Cheney's "go f*ck yourself" suggestion (to a US Senator, no less)?

oohchild, I agree with you, like you previously wrote, both sides can be ugly, and I think you lose alot of credibilty when you get that ugly, but what I dont like here is Sparks accusing me of saying things I did not say, in an effort to make me look bad, very weak and I think the worst thing you could do to a fellow blogger here, misrepresent what they say, and outright lie about them. I am surprised she took this route,

While I don't want to get sucked into this "political" debate I felt the urge to comment that I have never seen a post where Starbucks had cussed at anyone and I found it very strange that Sparks said that his comment had all kinds of cussing in it. My first thought was...."they must have been quotes because that sounds very out character for Starbucks."  I'm glad to know that that was exactly right, even though it's no longer there for anyone to see for themselves.

I must say that I hate that the TN blog site has been turned into yet another political blog spot. I hate politics! There's a reason it's one of those "tabu" subjects.

posted by Starbucks1 on Mar 12, 2008 at 01:54 PM

countygirl, Thanks for the support, everyone here knows that I have never cussed at another blogger here, or attacked anyone personally,  Sparks was wrong in her comment about me on many different levels, this whole issue could have been averted if samheath had just said, "yes, Starbucks, Huff post can get ugly with hateful comments, , but I still like the topics on the blog" , then nothing would have happened, but he deleted my comment and sparks choose to lie about what I did post and then attack me. very strange indeed. and thanks to oohchild too, for agreeing with the rest of us that deleting post's is weak and  " it's as rude & disrespectful as a personal attack".

posted by Sparks on Mar 12, 2008 at 04:14 PM

Countygirl, yep... the post is no longer there for everyone to see and I have no idea where Starbucks got his source from.   I believe as you do Countygirl, even though the comment he posted was full of cuss words, I now believe they weren't his words but that from other bloggers.  However when he copies and pastes nasty pictures or copies and pastes comments with cuss words in it, he still has to take responsibility for it.  He is not the only one that posts content with cuss words in it.  This is not about whether Starbucks is an angel or not.

I didn't know he copied the last paragraph on his post full or ranting and cuss words from someone else.. how am I supposed to know who wrote it.???  He didn't say it came from another source.  From a few of his posts I truly thought he had a cussing problem. lol

I actually like some of starbuck's copy and pasted posts and pictures, especially the picture of the sexy lesbians, I thought it was appropriate for the subject (Broke Back Mountain), sadly others didn't approve, and it was removed as his last comment that I am speaking of was removed.  You see I am not against cussing and sexy pictures at all.  Wooohooo  lol

However, I still think  Starbuck's post on Sam's blog was extremely tacky and I don't believe Huffington post bloggers were bashing their own blog site so that part had to be Starbucks.  I told Starbucks what I thought of his post, and as you can see he isn't taking it very well.    I'm sure he will get over it.

It's really a shame Sam deleted Starbucks post. because now no one really knows what we are talking about..see this is why you should never delete other peoples posts (smile)

I just deleted several comments on one of post. Two people created profiles today and started to post comments on my post. One of them repeatedly telling me to prove what I post. People that sole purpose is to play games. I didn't feel like dealing with them so I deleted them.

what do you guys think ...was I wrong for deleting them?
