GOOD NEWS #2

Here is another pic I promised to add regarding the Wind Turbine Ceremony of my previous post. This is the bottom section of the tower and there will be two more of the same size added to top each other. They will need to be bolted together by human hands, at both outside and inside positions. Man, talk about a hazardous job! These workers will have to be hoisted and lowered into the inside to make sure the bolts are secured. Once that is done, the blades will be added at the top. I don't know when I've ever seen anything more impressive! I hope these people get a whole bunch of money for doing this 'cause I wouldn't/couldn't do it for ANY amount of money

Yes, Jim they make good money. I have two brothers currently in this business and they do very well. Let's just put it this way....my younger brother (who's just part of the crew not a crew boss like my older brother) makes twice what my firefighter husband makes in a week. lol =)

But only with overtime and lots of it, right countygirl? When there's nothing to commission and work is 40-hrs/wk  it isn't so enticing ... not to mention all the time during the year that you never get to see your family when you ARE working OT and you're a ga-jillion miles from home.

They work 10+ hour days, and are gone from their families for months at a time. They get to work in horrible weather. I can't tell you how many tornado watches they've been exposed to in the last few months. Right now they are in Colorado, but in about a month it's off to Palm Springs where they will work nights because it's 100 degrees out at 2 am. Oh so enticing! NOT! Then again neither is fighting fire when it's 100+ degrees out or anytime for that matter IMO. lol
