jimr - > TEHACHAPI SAFETY, SECURITY AND POLITICAL ISSUES -> HEY! CITY OFFICIALS, WAKE UP!
HEY! CITY OFFICIALS, WAKE UP!

I have been wondering for a long time whether or not any of the City Officials read these blogs?

Much, if not most of it, is about them, or Civic affairs. Their silence is deafening. Is it because they don't read them? Or they don't care to respond to anything posted here? Hmmmm. Which do you think it is?

Crime is on the increase in Tehachapi but what are their pro-active plans to deal with it? Along with the increase in population comes a commensurate increase in crime. This is no longer the sleepy little mountain village it was when Mayor Grimes and Councilperson Smith grew up here 40 or 50 years ago. It's a helluva lot easier, cheaper and safer to practice crime prevention (before the fact) than crime detection (after the fact).

As we see in today's news, both Henry's restaurant and a local jewelry store have both been robbed...at gunpoint! What should we citizens learn about how to protect our persons and property? Should the City and/or Police Department start holding a series of seminars on this subject? Or at least teach us how to set up Neighborhood Watch Groups?

Law Enforcement personnel cannot be everywhere..all the time. But, we citizens ARE! Just being street smart and aware can be a big help. Surveillance equipment can be extremely helpful. I'm not talking about big, expensive camera's. I'm talking about something we all have, all the time. Camera equipped cell phones! Instead of just using them to gab with friends while driving somewhere, or shopping somewhere, use them to snap a pic or vid of something, someone, or some situation you think might be out of the ordinary. This doesn't take brain surgery to figure out and we could all be extremely helpful to our law enforcement agencies.

I have posed a lot of questions here but who has the answers?

Before the rumors start flying I'd like to set things straight. Henry's Did Not Get Robbed. The police were over in that parking lot as well as Bank of the West parking lot in case the suspect they were searching for hopped the fence and headed for those businesses.

I stand corrected. Thanks. But the main theme remains the same.

Another contributing factor is all the construction with contractors from outside the area. This brings in lots of new faces daily as well as new trouble.  The community needs to remain watchful and report ALL suspicious activity.  We can keep law enforcement costs down if we are the eyes and ears.

If you stand corrected, maybe you should edit your original post so you don't continue spreading misinformation.

If he edits his original post no one will know what you or blaze are talking about. He's new to this be nice!

His blog post archives go back to August of 2006, so I don't believe he is new. Also, editing the post doesn't mean he has to remove it. He could just put in parenthesis that the info about Henry's was later found to be untrue.
