IDENTITY THEFT!

Chilling Identity Theft Facts

Identity theft is the fastest growing crime, according to the Federal Trade Commission. Experts estimate that about 10 million people become victims each year. That means every minute, 19 people become new victims of identity fraud!

In fact, according to the US Department of Justice, drug trafficking is now being replaced by identity theft as the number one crime.

If you become a victim, it will probably take you hundreds of hours and an average of $1,000 to recover from ID theft. Even worse, some innocent victims have ended up in prison because identity thieves have committed crimes in their names.

I received an e-mail from Scambusters.org touting a new company in the field of proactive ID theft prevention. It's not free (although you can Google-Up some that are) and has been prominently featured on CNN, MSNBC, WSJ, CNBC, and others. I have absolutely no interest in this company, pecuniary or otherwise and know no one who works there. This is just FYI and you can check them out with this link. http://www.lifelock.com/def...

Jimr, I was already checking out this company this week. I think it would be worth the money and I'm considering doing it. When you say you have no interest in the company, do you mean financially or you don't think it's worth doing?

Sorry. I used the word "pecuniary" which means financial. I have read all the accolades they received and I think it's well worth the money. I like their use of the word "proactive" (BEFORE the fact) which is something I always try to preach. It's a helluva lot easier, cheaper, safer, and faster than being "reactive" (AFTER the fact).

Thanks for clearing that up. I've been wavering on whether I should do it or not but I think you just pushed me over the edge. It's good to have a second opinion.

Guys, if you measure the id theft industry in North America by volume and then compare the stolen money of Todd it will prove that it is working. However, it is very great post and very valuable comments I been reading. However if you want to read more about the identity theft in North America, please visit. http://www.identitytheftpro.... I thought to share it with you.

It is very useful post to read, however, it is fact that what ever you do, bring innovation in these financial statements (paperless or virtual) etc, still there is a chance that your information might be stolen, because there are smart asses in identity thieves. So I think we should prepare ourselves, and protect some how; like lifelock. If you want to read more about the identity theft in North America, please visit. http://www.identitytheftpro...
