Good old Abe sure spoke the truth!!

Jim Richards We Americans, and I count myself among them, are a consuming gluttonous people. We eat too much, we drink too much and we use too much gasoline. (Among other things.) Now that the "summer vacation time" is upon us, just look at the vehicle next to you as you drive along (alone, of course) and see Ma and Pa Kettle in their gas guzzling RV driving from L.A. to Jacksonville, FL to visit their friends. All the while they are passing Fred and Wilma, driving their humongous RV from Detroit to Palm Springs. And all the while they are passing hundreds, thousands, MILLIONS of vehicles on their way to work, or wherever, with only ONE person in the vehicle. The "Talking Heads" are telling us that gasoline will soon hit the 4 and even 5 dollar mark and the only thing that will cause us Americans to "conserve" will be for the price of gasoline to hit 10 dollars a gallon! Do you really think that will do it? I say, HELL NO! I guess it's a matter of "once a glutton, always a glutton". Does anyone here honestly disagree? Jim Richards
OUR “NANNY” GOVERNMENT It was reported today that the Government has directed the film industry to assign a movie rating of R or X to any movie where someone is puffing on a cigarette. WOW! They are really looking out for us, aren’t they? Just think of how many lung cancer victims they will save. Next will logically be anyone seen sipping a beer or glass of wine, on film, will receive a similar rating. AA will be put out of business on this one. It naturally follows that anyone seen scantily clad in a movie will be portrayed as probable prostitutes, both male and female. Geez, people! Isn’t our government wonderful to be paying such high attention to these major issues instead of guarding our borders and reducing taxes and providing health care? And, they have no wish or desire to turn American into another Vietnam. They are too busy educating themselves and their children in the English language. They are too busy assimilating themselves into the American mainstream by working and melding into the American culture. Those illegal alien marchers are now claiming they did not understand the Police bullhorns telling them to DISPERSE because they could not understand English! Huh? Does anyone here recall the Mexican woman who called 911 because her baby was choking and the 911 operator could not understand Spanish? They were sued…and she won millions. This is more of the same. And, that so-called video “journalist” who had his camera knocked out of his hands? Did you see someone filming HIM while he was busy flying a Mexican flag attached to the top of his camera? I saw it. And, the L.A. Police Chief said he was “disturbed” by what he saw his cops doing? Huh? I’M disturbed that HE was disturbed! They will sue…and WIN millions, maybe Billions..all to be sent back to We stand idly by and gripe and moan among ourselves but the SYSTEM will let them win. Jim Richards Be careful when walking in dark areas. Keep looking all around you, including BEHIND. Don't get into your car without first looking into the rear seat. Be careful when entering restrooms, especially in out-of-the-way areas; make sure you know who's inside. Know how to get hold of police; program the emergency numbers into your cell phone. Walk in groups when possible. This is for kids as well as adults. TEACH YOUR KIDS this message. Give relatives, friends and others with whom you live a time when you'll be home. That way, if you don't show up, family members can contact police who will start a search. Know where you're at. (Excuse the preposition). If you get on a cell phone, you should be able to tell police your exact location. Even here, in small town Tehachapi, don't become a part of the statistics. Jim Richards |
