Cheesy TV viewing
So, we're well into the summer television doldrums now, so let's share.

What's the cheesiest, most brain-food deficient show you're currently watching?

My current personal embarrassment would have to be Wife Swap, one of the worst shows ever made. It's like watching a weekly train wreck. How do they even find people willing to subject themselves to such public humiliation?

There's mine. What's yours?

If I can help it I stay on the educational channels throughout the year, with some exceptions like CSI and sort. But I would have to say that I have been forced a few time more than I wish to watch "America's Got Talent".

I'm thankful for baseball season to get me through the summer until my favorite shows return. It also helps that I just had a baby and can't stay awake past about 8:30pm when all the "cheesy" and/or "trashy" TV shows start!

Okay, I'll admit I love to watch Hell's Kitchen. There's just something about that angry brit Ramsey yelling in the kitchen that I just can't miss.

If I may give a plug to my favorite show that got a reprieve from cancellation, Jericho on CBS will start airing again tonight. If you didn't watch it, give it a try. The network has agreed to make 7 new episodes based on viewer support, but they said they need new viewers to keep it on the air.

It's so much better than reruns!

Tivo is my best friend.  So, normally, I only watch what I really want to.  However, every once in awhile someone calls and says, "You're not watching "So You Think You Can Dance?  Oh man, you have to."  And then, there I am, Tivoing another reality TV show.

My worse choice is the judge shows.  If they come on, I seem to become someone from another life.  I can't help myself ....  just love them!!!!!  So cheesy.

It doesn't bother me at all, but then again I don't watch the Family Channel...I'll bet those sexual, drug, or alcohol references are considerably tamer than what junior high (maybe even younger) kids hear and talk about every day at school. It's hard to believe that you (since you grew up in then '80s and '90s) still see these topics as really taboo. If it bothers you so much that you have to complain about it on a blog, why don't you switch off the TV and read a good book?

RM- There you go again. Man if I really believed that the world was as you make it out to be I would have been to afraid to bring children into it. I also am in my late twenties and I believe that a family channel should be a channel for the FAMILY to sit and watch. Don't you think so? After all it is called the FAMILY CHANNEL!!  A show that contains drinking, sexual and drug references is not appropriate in my opinion for a family channel.

I know this is EXTREMELY hard for you to believe but some of us young adults do have morals and like to uphold good family values. Do I think that these issues are taboo? Am I so naive that I think these types of things don't exist?  No. Trust me being one of the oldest of eleven children I am quite aware of what is out there and the pressures our youth go through, but I don't think my 5, 4, and 2 year old need to be subjected to it just yet!!  Is it so hard to believe that some people went through life without sleeping around, getting drunk every weekend, not doing drugs, and having respect for the people and things around them? I don't.

As for people complaining on this blog. It is a BLOG  that is what it is here for. To express ourselves, share stories and to get feedback from people. I seems some people still don't get that.

To answer the actual question... I'm not real big on the reality shows. I like CSI-Las Vegas. I also liked October Road, and Grey's Anatomy.  A new one I've gotten into is Army Wives on Lifetime.

I agree that if a company is going to position itself as a family channel, then it should carry material suitable for the whole family.

Now, having said that, I couldn't name two shows that are on the Family Channel if I were winning money for it. guess that's what happens when the kittens are all grown up.

My dirty viewing secret? CSPAN! It's amazing what our government does when they think no one is paying attention. No filters, no commentators slanting it, just our government at work...or not, depending on what you're looking at. Sit back and have a listen once in a while. It's hard to believe that we the people chose those people to be our voice.
