I am thinking of getting a food club going here in Tehachapi. Maybe once a month we could get together and talk about food and it's preparation. Maybe field trips to different markets and restaurants and food festivals. Maybe we could work up to full blown cooking at a different persons home every month. All would be welcomed, whether you are a chef or a home chef, it would not matter. All that I would ask is that you are a "foodie" and that you want to learn as well as contribute to discussions about food. What do you think?????

Why is it so hard to find any reliable help here in Tehachapi??? I ran an ad in the paper and I received many calls. Most of the people who called could not even remember what job they were calling for! Then I hired a new guy and he worked one day and that was it. Another guy that I tried to hire said he was very excited to work and he never showed or called. I did hire a young lady and I will wait to see how that works out. I am still looking for at least one more person to do very limited weekend work. I am only cooking at events in Tehachapi this year and I would really like someone that is reliable and does not mind working with food. The work is not that hard but it does get fast and furious sometimes. I pay cash and you can eat anything that we make for free. If you know someone, let me know. Thanks to you all.....................

I am sure that many of you already know about this but, I believe that many of you also do not. Tehachapi is having it's first renaissance festival this weekend June 21&22 from 10am to 5pm. It is located at Hwy 202 west of Tucker Rd. Look for the signs. You can also call 775-359-3542 for more info. This should be fun. I have never cooked at an event like this and I am going to be cooking European food which is something that I do not do much of. Sorry, no Indian tacos here. I will be doing a meatball sandwich and a roast pork sandwich. I had an award winning sausage maker make up a bunch of Polish Bratwurst so that I could grill. I am also doing the royal feast which there are a very limited number of tickets still available. I do hope you all come. There are advanced tickets for sale. The menu for the royal feast is,

Whole Roast Pig

Roasted Chicken Leg Quarters with a Gooseberry Glaze

Fresh Green Salad (Tangleweed Farms) with Walnuts and Fresh Goat Cheese served with a Toasted Shallot and Red Wine Vinaigrette

Carrots Glace

Fresh Dinner Roll (Kohnen's Bakery) with Honey and Rosemary Butter

Spiced Apples with Raisins

Just to let you all know, this weekend there is a lot of things to do here in Tehachapi. The two biggest are the Spring Fair and the Chili Cook off. The Chili Cook off is on Saturday on Green st. and I believe it is going to be a blast. At City/Central Park, the Spring fair will be going on both Saturday and Sunday. I was told that this year there are going to be around 80 vendors! I wish that I could cook at both of these fine events. I chose to do the Spring Fair again this year as I really like doing events in the park. So if you need your Indian Taco fix, come and see me. Just a little info though; I will not we serving any fresh tomatoes on my tacos due to the risk of bad tomatoes. I understand that tomatoes from Ca. are suppose to be fine but, I will not take that chance. I will come up with something else to top my Indian Tacos. I do hope you all come to both events. It should be fun! Oh yeah! I just remembered. Tehachapi is having their first Renaissance Faire on the 21 and 22 of this month. I will be selling tickets for the Royal Banquet at my booth in the park at the Spring Fair this weekend. Hope to see you!
