What has happened to Sesame Street?
Ok, Sesame Street is in a serious decline as far as I'm concerned. Whatever happened to such favorites as "Ladybug's Picnic" or the 123-45-678910-1112 pinball thing that I so loved from when I was a child. Do you know what's on there now? Vegetables. Fruits. What's up with that? Hey, these days, I can completely understand wanting to get kids excited about eating healthy and getting off their butts to do something, but come on, this is Sesame Street! The land of muppets and numbers and counting. It's difficult enough for enough of them to learn their numbers and letters, which should be what the bulk of this show is about. This is too young to be pushing a concept of good nutrition at such a fanatic level. My 7-year-old daughter said it best - "Mom, why are those vegetables dancing?"

If that is true then I think I will just stop watching that show entirely, not that I watch it much now. How could you even think to turn the cookie monster into something else? It would be better to just get rid of him and create something else entirely than to make him stop eating cookies. That would just be wrong.

But then again, anything is possible. In fact, look which way the muppets are going now:

I heard somewhere that they were going to make Cookie Monster stop eating cookies.  What will he be then, just monster.

I did hear that they are adding another character to the show. They haven't done that for quite a while. Maybe this will spice things up a little if they do it correctly. And cut out some of the healthfood crap.

Ditto...ditto...ditto....my three oldest children have outgrown Sesame Street and I used to enjoy watching it with them. I now have a 3 yr old and it's just not the same! So sad...

Having just watched my two daughters finish watching Sesame Street, I have to agree. I personally think the entire Sesame Street and Muppets franchise starting its decline when Jim Henson died. I will say though -- my oldest daughter loves the whole Baby Bear thing. And unfortunately she also likes Elmo.

For my birthday last year my wife gave me the first season of The Muppet Show on DVD. What a find! I've started introducing my oldest daughter to it and she always wants to see it.
