I Will Walk By Faith
You know as humans I think we can get greedy. We want things, I mean as we live here we are called to be servants of Jesus Christ but we also want. And becuase we have so much faith in our Lord and savior we pray to Him and ask Him of these things. And sometimes what we have to come to understand is that we pray for what we thought would come true didn't come true in our hearts of what we thought what we wanted, God knew best. And when we didn't see what we wanted to see, we should walk by faith. And even when we understand things or don't understand things we should still walk by faith because faith is not when you see you're like "Oh okay well I'll walk by faith now because I see". That's not faith. Faith is when you can't see, and something that you've been praying for, and that you've been wanting and you have been praying for that and it didn't come true in your own heart. And when you don't see what you wanted to see, you need to walk by faith. That's faith! When you walk and you don't see.

Those are the words echoed by Jeremy Camp before singing the song he wrote on his honeymoon called "I Will Walk By Faith". He was praying for His wife to be healed. And she ultimately was, she's with Jesus. But she passed away evidently. So what he may have wanted in His own heart didn't come true, but that's because God knows best. God knows exactly what we need and when we need it and why we need it. He is truly our map in this world. And when you are praying for something like that, and you cannot see, you continue to walk by faith, not by sight. Because if we were to walk by sight we'd be doing things that cause us to become spiritually dead. But if we walk by faith, faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and His plan for our lives, we will only grow that much stronger. But everybody wants something. Whether it be that new job, or perhaps that guy or girl. And you were just praying for something that you really wanted, and it didn't come true in your own heart. But you still continue to walk by faith and you don't let anything interrupt your walk and your focus on the Lord.

Because only God knows what is best for you, and if something doesn't work out, it was for a reason. But realize this, what God wants for you is only the absolute best. So if something doesn't go according to how your heart had planned, then don't fret about it. Because what will be put in place of that will be so gloriously better than what you wanted that you won't even remember it anymore. Nobody can script your life any better than our Lord Jesus Christ. And perhaps you couldn't believe it, how he just spoke to you and it just hit you so hard that this is something you've wanted for so long, and now that it didn't work out, look at what happened? Look at what this really is and why it wouldn't have worked out. And now you understand why it is so important to walk by faith and through walking by faith it makes it so much easier to put things and experiences past you. Because you know what the Lord has planned out for you is going to be so incredibly great that nothing else would come close. Who better to decide your life than the one who granted it to you? And after that experience of what you may have had your heart set on for the past few months didn't work in the way you had expected, you just had to ask the Lord to help take it off your mind now that it is over so you may regain my focus towards Him. And that He did and will do. This is the gift you may receive from walking by your faith.

Christine, I've been where you are now. It lasted for me about 8 years. During that time I tried many churches. There were a few that I tried that I didn't choose to stay at because it just wasn't home for me. I know I was trying to find something similar to that church I left.  But those that I didn't choose to make my home were still good churches with decent loving people and a good pastor. They just weren't home for me. If I may ask what kind of church you are looking for, maybe I can steer you to one of the good ones I tried that in my opinion were in it for the right reasons and not just trying to increase their membership. In fact the one I settled on, has no membership.

You guys are too cool, thanks for the support. I haven't given up, I am just not feeling it lately. The saddest part is that I finally have a lot of the things I have wanted to acheive, family, a home, a kid, good career, my horses in my backyard, and yet I find myself feeling so out of sorts. I would like to check out some of the local churches, but don't want to walk in their feeling like I am fresh bait. Does this sound weird?

I forgot...and yes I understand Christine as well. Good luck and do not give up Christine. There is a place for everybody , everywhere...sometimes you just have to look harder.  Hang in there and please don't loose your faith.

Debi -  thank you for once again shedding some light on the dreaded word "atheist".  People that I have encounter find out that I am an atheist and believe the worst.  Some think it means I worship the devil, or that I am evil myself.  I have "Faith" and "Morals" and "Insight" and "Spirituality".  I am a "Catholic" (baptized) but I can remember questioning at the age of 8.  I have found that people that are not so called "Religious" have more understanding for differences.  We seem you except a believer or a non-believer or a believer of the stars, etc than those that are "Holy". (NOT ALL)  I teach my child that we can believe and find Faith in anything and everywhere.  I had a discussion with a friend of my one time that is "Religious".  I let me son go to church if he wants and my  friend said that I must believe deep down otherwise I would let my son go.  I said No, but that is what he wants and I will support him in his path in life.  My friend could not and would not try to see my point on this.  I didn't want him to agree just see we all have our individual calling in life.  Again not all "religious" people are like this but in my experience alot are.  So again thank you Debi again for bringing a calm reasoning voice that so many people respect to this blog.

As most of you know I'm an atheist, but I can understand what Christine is saying.  My best friend Francis was a nun.  She has now decided to leave the church and become a nurse.  She too is having a hard time finding a church she feels she belongs to since she moved to Yuma AZ.   I personally have never stepped inside a church except for a few in Austria that were absolutely beautiful.  The churches I visited were mostly tourist attractions though.  My heart goes out to Francis because I know her,  I know she would rather have the life she had with her church back in Missouri..  Hopefully devoting herself to nursing will fulfill her life as much as her old church did.  She has been telling me for years that the Catholics in Yuma are different than what she is used to.  People go to church, but they live their lives in sin the second they leave the church.  Drinking, cussing, adultery, and lack of morels runs rapid, Catholics in Yuma pretty much use the churches simply as social gatherings.  Plus it seems the churches are becoming more commercialized and more about money than spirituality.  I miss seeing my best friend happy and I believe it's for the same reason Christine feels a bit lost here in Tehachapi.   Francis tells me that I have more morals and have more spiritual insight than anyone she has met in church from Yuma.. and again, I am an atheist.    Francis now shares her love and feelings for God at home alone, and oddly enough, with me.   I find this very sad seeing as how Francis has devoted her entire life to God.

Christine perhaps you can have a gathering at your house now and again with people who share the same ideals and spirituality as you do????    Perhaps this will strengthen your faith.

 Just a thought,

I could use a little faith. I was raised catholic and married my hubby in a Lutheran church. I believe that as long as people have a basic belief in Christ, most religions are similar. Frankly, I don;t try to make judgments about this issue as I believe that is God's job, not mine.  I was a regular church goer, I have had such a difficult time with it since I moved here. I feel like I don't have a church where I belong. I also lost the coolest female pastor at our old church about 7 months after I moved up here, It was devastating, she died of pancreatic cancer, and it made me so angry, She was a really special person, who had just retired, only to have her life taken, and I know she didn't want to go. I felt she had so much more to offer everyone who had the opportunity to get to know her.

It's been really hard to get back into church since then. I know I will find my way, but I need some non-judgmental guidance, someone who can share some insight, and not just because your  are looking for a new church member. Spirituality is of the heart and how we treat each other as people, how we love, not necessarily that we show up to church every Sunday, only to sin Monday through Friday.

I like the way you see things Matthew, and the way you don't ... through faith.   I have a Tehachapi Links Site that I would love to add your Blog to.  What say you?   This is the site http://wud1.com/tehachapica...  or just google Tehachapi Links.   You can add your blog site by simply writing a comment on the blog, that is how most folks add a web page.  You can also add your computer blog from here if you like... that would be very sweet!!!  I think Tehachapi will find your blogs very interesting as do.   I know you may think it odd that a non-believer such as I, may like you so much.  I see a lot of goodness in you Matthew. A genuine love for people. When I see young people like you in Tehachapi, it makes me proud to live here.
