Holiday blues
I've read on here a lot, but didn't post until today. Is it just me, or do people seem really down this Christmas?

I've talked to a lot of people and so many of them are so worried about their job or their house or their bills this year. I don't remember it being this bad before. Everyone seems stressed. And people don't seem to be as nice. Even on here, where I thought there would be a lot of people offering good wishes and good stories people act like they are mad.

It seems like a lot of folks are feeling the pinch this year. I've talked to several friends who are having a tough work year (getting laid off, having their earnings severely cut). I think it makes people a little faster to be angry about things that they would usually brush aside.

Try watching a good holiday movie or doing something nice for the less fortunate, like donating food to a food bank or giving something to a local charity or donating a toy for a kid who might get one. I find the best antidote to sadness is to be giving.

I agree, there is something oddly different about Christmas this year. The festive spirit has been hiding from me, and it just doens't feel like Christmas yet at all. Even wrapping gifts and mailing cards hasn't gotten me smiling and humming Christmas carols. I don;t remember it being this way before and I wonder if anything has really changed or perhaps I have just gotten another year older and am viewing things from the wrong perspective,

I agree with Weebles.  The best way to forget your own troubles is to remember there are always peope who are worse off than you are.  The surest way to beat the blues is do to something nice for someone else.  :-)
