Good Doggie Needs Good Home
Well due to a recent divorce I need to get rid of my dog. He's a 7 year old yellow lab. He's papered and he's not fixed. I work out of town and I don't want him sitting in the winter cold for a week at a time while I'm gone. I've been having my neighbor watch him while I was at work but I can't see doing that throughout the winter. If you or someone you know might be interested you can email me at btg03@hotmail.com. He's free. I'd like to see him with his own yard to roam around in. He's great with kids and other dogs. He wouldn't hurt a flee. He also loves to play and
 fetch.

Have you tried posting this on craigslist.com? It is a free online classified ad and since there is no listing for Tehachapi you would need to list it under Bakersfield. You may very well find a new owner for your dog there if you come up empty handed here.

Good Luck.

Questions in case someone is interested:

1.  Is your furry friend an outside dog only?  2.   Is he housetrained?  3.  Will he be neutered? 4.  Have you called the Tehachapi Humane Society to see if they could put him on Petfinder?  5.  Have you tried to list your furry friend on Petfinder.com?

I am not passing judgment, but I hope you will not drop him off in the middle of nowhere, nor dump him at the dog pound, nor at Starbuck's; all of these things happen way too often.

Good luck and I sincerely hope you can find a forever home for your dog; please don't give on  him.   Please remember, he has been your companion and friend for 7 years and probably looks forward to seeing you when you come home every day.

Well I haven't thought of craigslist. I'll try that.

As far as the dog, he's an outdoor dog and he hasn't been neutered. I have sent an email to the Tehachapi humane society to get some assistance in placing him. I WILL NOT dump him off. The only I still have him is cuz I love the big fella. I've been paying the teenager next door to take care of him while I'm gone. He feeds him, plays with him and walks him a couple times a week. I'm afraid he won't get that attention during the winter and I don't want him out in the cold all week while I'm gone. So now I'm tryin to find him a home.

It's good that you are starting the search regarding a forever home now before the cold weather begins.  The Tehachapi Humane Society volunteers are very good about replying to your request, as well as coming up with a possible match for a family to adopt your dog.  There are alot of caring people out there and hopefuly that special someone will offer a good home to Duke, or Jasper, or whatever you have named your dear furry friend.  I applaud you for not being offended by some of my questions or statements.   All of my dogs and cats have been rescues; if it were not that I already have two dogs now, I would sincerely entertain the idea of adopting your dog; again, best of luck.
