Who should they pick?

So now that it looks like we know who's going head to head in November, who do you think Obama & McCain should pick as their Vice Presidential running mates?

Do you think the VP choice makes a difference for voters?

Would you change your vote for one candidate based only on their running mate?

For me, I'd like to see Obama team up with Wesley Clarke. I think that VP candidates do make a small difference, but I wouldn't change my vote if Obama picked someone like, say, Zell Miller. I'd just want to make sure nothin' happened to him.

As far as McCain goes, I think he needs a young, charismatic conservative to balance their ticket. I keep hearing Bobby Jindal being mentioned. He's sure a young up & comer!

For the first time in my life as a registered voter...I am declining to vote in November. Voting is just a symbolic gesture anyway, making the peasants feel as though they have a say in the actual election. My husband has been preaching that to me for years, I'm finally agreeing with him. So, to answer your question, it really no longer matters to me whom they each choose. And no, I won't change my mind even if Clinton was chosen...

Yes, I do think who they pick for a vp matters...

Obama should choose Clinton, Edwards or Biden.   I will definately vote this year..

McCain should choose a very conservative/religious white male, and yes it probably would be better if he chose someone young.

I believe there will be a Democratic president in 2009, I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Well, on to the general election, sorry that Hillary thing didn't work out for you ladies, but, the country doesn't want to go back to the corruption of the Clinton's, they want to go forward, and I agree with oohchild about Wesley Clarke, good choice, and Mcain, hmm, someone like Colin Powell would be good. Ohh, have you heard about Obama visiting all 57 states?, yes, thats right, WOW, he really gets around, they are even making a lapel pin that he might wear,

Gube, there's plenty of stupid remarks and finger pointing to go around, like dare I say, "Jeremiah Wright",?, the 57 state thing is funny, admit it, and I really dont have anything against Obama, I think he is basically a good guy, if he wins, so be it, give him a chance, I would never be so stupid as to say, "Im moving to Canada if he wins!!.

posted by gube on May 12, 2008 at 07:53 AM

ya what makes you think Canada wants you..........lol.......Obama just doesn't deliver a stupid mistake quite as well as Bush but your right he may just 4 years to practice on it...

posted by Starbucks1 on May 12, 2008 at 08:09 AM

hang in there gube, lots of time for Obama to make mistakes and say stupid things, but will the media report it?,

The corruption of the Clintons?  Oh you are talking about Bill's affair. Well that didn't do 1/100 th of the harm Bush has done.  Obama will make mistakes too I'm sure... all humans do, but no president will ever come as close as Bush to being the village idiot.  lol  I wouldn't have minded Clinton winning although she is a little too far over to the right for me.  I want a president who can deal with our economy, not be a war monger or a bigot, make sure Americans have health care, deal with immigration reform, and who will stop giving the very rich tax cuts.   I don't think McCain will do what most Americans want, however he is fairly liberal, just not liberal enough for me.

Joty, you sound so much like my husband. He hasn't voted for years. Says it's a waste of time, but he still argues politics with the best of them. When I point out that he has no intentions of voting, he backs off ( a little.) He's in a tough spot this year, since it looks like no matter who wins, NASA doesn't. Things are gonna be tough next year.

We get to hear a lot more about the stupid stuff politicians get caught saying because there's so many more news channels, many being the 24 hour kind. It's not that they're saying more stupid stuff, we just hear about it a lot more.

I've heard many conservatives voice a positive opinion about Condi Rice as VP. Do you think this country is ready for a lesbian VP?

;-)

Sparks,  I am never referring to Bill's numurous affairs that Hillary knew about but didnt care when I talk about Clinton corruption, I mean more like,

The only president ever impeached on grounds of personal malfeasance
- Most number of convictions and guilty pleas by friends and associates*
- Most number of cabinet officials to come under criminal investigation
- Most number of witnesses to flee country or refuse to testify
- Most number of witnesses to die suddenly
- First president sued for sexual harassment.
- Second president accused of rape**
- First first lady to come under criminal investigation
- Largest criminal plea agreement in an illegal campaign contribution case
- First president to establish a legal defense fund.
- First president to be held in contempt of court
- Greatest amount of illegal campaign contributions
- Greatest amount of illegal campaign contributions from abroad
- First president disbarred from the US Supreme Court and a state court

Number of individuals and businesses associated with the Clinton machine who have been convicted of or pleaded guilty to crimes: 47
- Number of these convictions during Clinton's presidency: 33
- Number of indictments/misdemeanor charges: 61
- Number of congressional witnesses who have pleaded the Fifth Amendment, fled the country to avoid testifying, or (in the case of foreign witnesses) refused to be interviewed: 122

As of June 2000, the Justice Department listed 25 people indicted and 19 convicted because of the 1996 Clinton-Gore fundraising scandals.
- According to the House Committee on Government Reform in September 2000, 79 House and Senate witnesses asserted the Fifth Amendment in the course of investigations into Gore's last fundraising campaign.
-
James Riady entered a plea agreement to pay an $8.5 million fine for campaign finance crimes. This was a record under campaign finance laws.

Anyway, it goes on and on, too much to put here, I'll referance the link, http://prorev.com/legacy.ht...

but other than that, CONDI IS A LESBIAN???WOW, I knew there was something I liked about her,,

A lot of the above IS because of Clinton's Affair, all the investigations are simply the Republicans trying to get him down and waste the tax payers money... Most past presidents have a list that long or longer.  AGAIN it's TRIVIAL compared to what Bush has done to harm our country..

I don't think American cares that Condi is a lesbian (old news),  Sure there are still bigots in America, and that's why Obama will have a more difficult time winning.

Dang, It sure would be nice if people voted on the ISSUES instead of color, or sexual preference.

Oochild,  I hear you about NASA. We are going to feel the crunch in our household as well. Obama would be the worse case scenario, although I would still vote for him for the sake of the this country. I don't think a Democratic president will affect the space aspect of NASA as much as other areas. Is your hubby a civil servant, or a contractor?

posted by Starbucks1 on May 13, 2008 at 06:29 AM

Most of the above link is not connected to Clintons numerous affairs, and the people of this country do not think its trivial, and they have spoken with their voice voting against Hillary in this election, but I agree with you that people dont care if Condi is a lesbian, it is old news, thats why I made the joke silly, but I would argue that people dont care if Obama is black, he picked up alot of white votes, they are voting the issues, not color, and Im all for more funding for NASA, I never heard Obamas stand on that, but Im all for it, Id like to see us go back to the moon and maybe even Mars,

posted by oohchild on May 13, 2008 at 08:40 AM

Sparks, my hubby was a contractor for many years, but we moved up here mostly so he could get a civil service position. So, he's still a newbie out there with only a few years under his belt.

Obama has been wishy-washy at best, when it comes to funding NASA. At first he said he wanted all money to go to education, basically gutting what little NASA had left. Now he's backed off that position. We really won't know his true intentions until we see his first budget.

Starbucks1, the problem with going to the Moon & Mars is funding. While Bush tried to talk a good game about manned missions to the Moon, there's barely enough money to develop the CEV & Orion rocket system. I just don't see anyone funding the projects like we did in the '60s. If it's not militarily oriented, the government puts it on the bottom of the list.

Y'know, if people really didn't care about Condi's lesbian tendencies, why is she keeping it a secret?  I think a lot of people do care, it's just that those folks are the ones pushing for her to serve in an elected position. She needs to wake up & realize which party better serves her interests. Same with Dick Cheney's daughter. They think they can change the RNC from within, but I don't see those folks giving up their fear anytime soon.

CEV & Orion is our concern as well as you can see by the digital art I created in photoshop of the Orion in outer space (below).  That is supposed to be the dark side of the moon and mars.  Not to scale with the Orion, but it's art...it doesn't have to be.  lol

My partner did the same thing...finally civil service here.  Right, if it's not military oriented, it doesn't get funded.

For those who may not know, this project is not military, and it is funded,

Lockheed Martin Corp. won a multibillion-dollar contract to build a vehicle to replace NASA's space shuttles, put a human on the moon for the first time since 1972 and be the precursor to a manned spaceship to Mars. The award marks NASA's most concrete step to fulfill President Bush's two-year-old, $230 billion promise that the space agency would return astronauts to the moon and restore excitement about space exploration. NASA has planned to replace the shuttles since the mid-1980s.Orion will look somewhat like the three-man Apollo command module but will carry as many as six astronauts. Like the shuttle, Orion will be able to carry cargo to and from the International Space Station.Orion is expected to make its first manned flight by 2014, four years after NASA's three operating shuttles are retired. NASA said it hopes for a moon landing by 2020, NASA Constellation and Lockheed Martin engineers have completed the first stage of a realignment of the Orion spacecraft, a process to control mass issues relating to the Lunar capabilities of the vehicle - classed as the most significant issue engineers are currently working on. As Orion and Ares progress towards PDR (Preliminary Design Review) and the next phase of development cycles (DACs), the Altair Project is beginning to seriously study potential configurations for the lunar lander. Hmm this isnt military, and it got funded, , I hope the next presisdent continues this funding,
