HENRY L. SCHAEFFER ELECTION RESULTS

The election results are finally in and certified.  Unfortunately Henry did not garner enough votes as a write-in candidate to make it on the council.  On the upside, the number of votes he received for being a write-in candidate is impressive and definitely should send a message that the electorate of Tehachapi is taking back control of their City Council.

I will need your input and support on the passing of ordinances if I meet with opposition on items on the agenda that are the wishes of the citizens of Tehachapi.

Here are the final "final" vote results for the November 7, 2006 election:

KERN COUNTY ELECTION RESULTS AS REPORTED BY CAROL AND ANN BARNETT OF THE KERN COUNTY ELECTIONS OFFICE ON 12/05/06 @ 9:08 A.M.

LINDA S. VERNON - 827 - 20.15%;

That really sucks! I hope Vernon realizes how close she was to being out the door. I hope she realizes what issues caused this, and she does something to fix these issues. Hand and Grimes are next.

Just checked the City Hall Council Site to see whose term expires next and found it to be woefully out of date. (As is everything else on the City Hall Site. Like the latest  "Newsletter" dated November 2004!!!!!)

So, does anyone know whose term will be up next year so we can get Henry elected for that spot? We need to get him on the ballot this time and start working EARLY, and HARD...for Henry! Unfortunately, we are going to be stuck with Phil Smith for another 4 years...this will mark his 24th. YEAR!!! G-R-O-A-N.

Sorry to disappoint you Jim but that particular portion of the Web site is fairly accurate.  Mayor Grimes' and Deborah Hand's terms both expire in November 2008.  That leaves the other three council members, Stan Beckham, Phil Smith and Linda Vernon expiring November 2010.

Of course, if any of the above are recalled, there could be a special election.  Or, if any cannot complete their terms due to any number of reasons, there would then be a 'special appointee' to the city council as happened with Linda Vernon and others in the past.
