VOTE for STAN BECKHAM. Change Tehachapi City Council, Tuesday, Nov. 7th

VOTE for STAN BECKHAM for Tehachapi City Council.

My name is Stan Beckham.  I am running for City Council and I am asking for your vote.  My name is on the ballot because I read the instructions and met the requirements, ON TIME!  I guarantee you I am not your usual slick politician with rehearsed and scripted answers for every question.  I will tell you what I believe, based on what I’ve learned from my years of experience in this city, in corporate business, in owning a small business, in security and the military.

Accordingly, I will be open to your concerns and questions.  For this reason I have established a Web site that I will keep up and running where YOU can have a TRULY OPEN forum.  Your political speech will NOT be edited on my Web site.  Go to www.StanStanding4U.com.  The sight is currently under construction, but within a few days there will be a blog section open to everyone.  Free and un-edited political debate is what built our Great Country; this is why you should VOTE for STAN BECKHAM.

Those of you wanting change and a positive direction in our City Council will find that we agree on many of the major and important issues.  I give you my oath that I will demand the highest quality from those that serve you, demand better negotiated contracts, and demand transparency in your city government to make it easier for you to stay abreast of what is going on.

Our small businesses will cease getting the run-around from City Hall because of the heavy-handed running of these departments by our City Manager Jason Caudle (current Council Member and Former Mayor Mariana Teel’s son-in-law) and David James, our Planning Director with his disrespectful attitude towards the citizens and the planning commission.  They forget they work FOR the City Council who represent the citizens of Tehachapi and, in Mr. James' case, he works FOR the Planning Commission, not the other way around.

Our small businesses should THRIVE.  There is no reason to build our city income simply on tax revenues from overbuilt housing.  We have many other assets to offer to bring in money and the Chamber of Commerce needs our support in planning for this vision.  VOTE for STAN BECKHAM.

Our children should not have to move away because they can't find a decent job in our community that pays a living wage.  With proper leadership, we can plan and build a city to be proud of!

I've been watching the blogs and news articles regarding the 'new' fire department, the new police department, a new hospital, and so on.  First we had a tremendous amount of new home building that was going to proceed, then, “just before elections”, a sudden MORATORIUM on building until a $100,000 consultant can tell the city where they went wrong!

These sudden “surprises” are nothing but inexperience, mismanagement, lack of leadership and complete disorganization.  ELECT me, STAN BECKHAM and I will give my all to make the changes and bring professionalism and common sense to our city government.

I am embarrassed that our city council has given up their power to Jason Caudle and David James.  The council has abdicated its’ responsibility to the community and allowed these two incompetents to completely rip this city to pieces.  This last statement has been proven by the continuing ineptness that has been displayed of late and reported somewhat in the local news, but mostly on your blogs.  Your BLOGS prove the discontent of the people.

Registered voters of the City of Tehachapi will be seeing a postcard mailer from me coming out within the next few days briefly outlining why you should vote for me.  If you would like a yard sign, please call 822-1907.

Things that make me wonder:  “I read the Tehachapi News along with many other papers, and interestingly enough, I find more detailed information about our City Council Meetings in the California City Newspaper.  Hmmm!”

So, thmazing thinks these blogs aren't edited?  We can tell him differently, can't we?  But, honestly, we haven't been scolded or booted off for quite awhile.  Please take a look at the following and remember that YOU are the ELECTORATE at the top of this organizational chart.  http://stanstanding4u.com/o...

Best,

Stan

One good thing about the blog is when you see a lie you can call them on it right away, not like when one sneaks by the newspaper!

Another thing to remember in the News v. blogs question is this: blogs are not edited. Any idjit can say anything he wants. The News has always been careful to state only the truth. Perhaps too careful, who can say, but bloggers often have no sense of responsibility to the truth whatsoever.

Well anonymous(s), that is one of the main reasons I am running for City Council.  If you live in Tehachapi City limits or have friends and family that do, I ask for your vote.  This is back room politics and we need to eliminate the nepotism and cronyism that leads to these power plays.  It's time for some common sense in Tehachapi's city government.

When you have a Council Member and former Mayor, Mariana Teel, who is the City Manager, Jason Caudle's mother-in-law AND, Jason Caudle's previous work experience was being an aid to Steve Perez.  This is the first 'real job' the boy has had.  Now he is getting OJT at the HUGE waste of our taxpayer money.

Also, to my understanding the city Fire Chief, McLaughlin, is not full time but works at the prison with Mariana Teel, AND the Fire Chief hires his son, AND the City Council turns down two perfectly qualified individuals who applied for the City Planning Commission in favor of Tim Felsoci who rarely seems to make the meetings and rubber stamps any project that comes through and just so happens to work at the prison with Mariana Teel and lives two doors down from her son-in-law Jason Caudle, AND...

Is it really necessary to go on to paint the picture about where MOST of the MAJOR problems lie?  Mariana Teel needs to be voted out by a huge margin.  This is the statement that the voters can make that they will NOT tolerate this back room politics and the power plays.  Also, the Mayor should be an ELECTED official so that the Council Members can't keep playing, "Who's turn is it next?"

Vote for STAN BECKHAM so that I can help make the changes that we need so that our City Hall and City Government become more professional and start serving the citizens of Tehachapi.  I can make these changes happen.

Thanks for your time,

Stan

It is even more then that! If Tehchapi City would have agreed to a fire protection district like what was purposed, there would be 9 firemen in Bear Valley instead of the 6 they have now. 9 full time firemen in Stallion Springs instead of a part time station, and a 18 man station in Golden Hills where there is no station at all. So "Local Control" has hurt us all!!! To top that off they are also messing with fire protection in Cal. City!

Tehachapi city wisdom:

Listen up Bear Valley Residence Tehachapi City is now affecting you!

Tehachapi city leaders in its quest for  "local control" have done it again.  Tehachapi City wants to use the Bear Valley dispatch center for the new city police department.  The Tehachapi City "locally controlled police" will also be staffed to the level that Bear Valley currently staffs it department.  The Bear Valley Police do a great job with what they have however Bear Valley is not Tehachapi its quite smaller in population and troubles.  What this means for Bear Valley?  By using the Bear Valley dispatch center Tehachapi City will overtax an already busy dispatch center. By dispatching from BV  the Bear Valley Police will be the main back up to the City since the County Sheriff will be out of the information loop.   The Bear Valley Police will constantly have to leave the valley to assist the understaffed Tehachapi City Police department.  This will mean that Bear Valley many times will be left with no or just one police officer.  So Tehachapi City's "local control" just spilled into regional control.  Good job City now people in two communities will be less safe.  When will they stop this messy power play.

Anonymous I'm glad you have a sense of humor.  And, Mimi, freedom of speech is what it's all about.  The First Amendment.

Hard nosed reporters are used to getting bashed and they take it on the chin, it comes with the job.  I don't think I've unduly bashed the paper.  I certainly haven't yelled loudly, or not at all as I recall, about the big chunk of money I paid for my newspaper ad to have it come out printed as badly as it was.  I am sure in Stefani's capable hands the next issue will be corrected.

All of you on these blogs are intelligent, informed and expressive people.  You are the citizens that see something right or see something wrong and take action to commend or condemn.  You are the bedrock upon which we can all build a great plan for the City of Tehachapi and build a city we can all be proud of.

Let's keep on track and let's get out the vote on November 7th!

Kindest regards,

Stan Beckham

Then stop bitching about what we write in the blogs and who writes it. There is more then the fire department story not being printed by your news paper.

medicone - do you see happy news on the front of the paper each week? No, there's a mix of what is going on in the community, both good and bad, which is what a good newspaper should have on it. Is the Pet of the Week the only thing in the paper? That is what you make it out to seem. There is other news in there, you just choose not to see it and dwell on something that cannot be changed by a few aritlces in the Tehachapi News. The newspaper cannot write articles on the fire department on a weekly basis. There are other things going on that need coverage as well, such as the school board and hospital board elections, which are happening NOW. And even if they did write more articles on the fire department, I doubt it would make you happy because it won't be what you want to hear. Caudle gives the newspaper the same answers as everyone else. What he thinks will look good in print isn't necessarily right, or even the truth. I think you have a better chance of getting something done by running for city council or supporting someone who will make changes, than sitting here bitching about whether the paper is going to write articles or not.

Define "real news." How much "real news" do you think actually takes place in Tehachapi? Looking though the paper I see stories about the city council, planning commission, construction, accidents, the upcoming election, the school district and sports. Yeah, there's stories every week about good people doing good things in the area. What is wrong with that?

Whether it makes you happy or not, there's far more good in Tehachapi than there is bad, on any week of the year.  Seems sad that you don't have any use for the good side of the place you choose to live.

Most of us on here are not happy with the all nice and happy news we see all the time. We know there is bad stuff going on and we want to see a news story on it. We want some real news. NOT "Pet of the week" stuff you get fron your school paper.

Well, I'm not afraid to sign my name, so I will agree with anonymous and find it odd that you would complain about those who have made it possible for you even write anything in this very forum. If anything, you should be appreciative that you are able to use the Tehachapi News' web site to further your campaign. And chichibug, I don't know where you get your information, but the Tehachapi News isn't edited by its "parent company" - all editing is done in house. Also, I think its important to always remember one thing about blogs - they need to be taken with a grain of salt. A good chunk of what is written in a blog is heresay or a rumor. You don't know these people and you sure don't know where they're getting their information. At least the newspaper has a responsiblity to the community to report as accurately as possible and the reporters back up their articles with as many viable sources as possible. I don't think you can say that about blogs.
