Misspellings...........
We all occasionally forget to use our spell check and for the most part I'm forgiving in the misuse of words such their and there, our and are, whether and weather, to and too, etc. But the misspelling of "RESOURCE", spelled "RESOURSE" in the headline: Resourse for the horse ( and, rider too) on the homepage (I'm not sure if it's in the printed edition too) is making me insane!!!!!! Any comments? In Peace, Annette 15 comments from 11 users

If you think that is bad, I just went through the immigration process and finally received permanent resident status. I received a letter from Homeland Security, a welcome to the USA letter. Apparently they do not utilize spell check either. My letter says I must "cary' my identification with me everywhere I go. posted by

Too funny. I noticed that typo as well. ugh, ouch... oh yeah, it hurts. Yes, I am anal retentive. Thinking, thinking... what do I normally do in a situation such as this? Resourse for the horce (and, rider to) Ahhh, I feel much better now.

Yes Annette, poor spelling bugs the heck out of me too! I like to think of myself as a pretty good speller, but I ALWAYS use spell check just in case I missed a word or two. I believe it is a reflection on oneself and a lack of attention to detail. Spam code: PVVEE posted by

This was on Yahoo News over the weekend: Fri Jun 6, 3:55 AM ET WESTLAKE, Ohio - A Cleveland-area principal says he's embarrassed his students got proof of their "educaiton" on their high school diplomas. Westlake High School officials misspelled "education" on the diplomas distributed last weekend. It's been the subject of mockery on local radio. Principal Timothy Freeman says he sent back the diplomas once to correct another error. When the diplomas came back, no one bothered to check things they thought were right the first time. The publisher has reprinted the diplomas a second time and sent them to the 330 graduates. posted by

Ha! Poor spelling and grammar "coitainly" drives me nuts too! Nyuk, Nyuk! I was talking with a friend of mine the other day who actually called to complain about the many errors in the News, specifically one of the front page hospital stories. She was told that the editor has been out sick for a month and they are understaffed. I guess that must be why all the news stories and events aren't being posted online. posted by

It is true, the editor is on medical leave of absence. Well what do you do when you can’t even get the word close enough that spell check doesn’t know what you’re trying to spell? That really bugs me. I have to tell you a funny story. About 10 years ago I got my first cell phone with voice control. I went through the set-up about 5 times and the dang phone wouldn’t work for me. I took it back and the clerk tried it and it worked fine. My late wife tried it and it worked fine for her too. But it wouldn’t work for me. Then it dawned on me, this dang phone was made in Japan and I’m from the south. posted by

My husband is constantly yelling from the other room, how do you spell this???? My 14 year old son came in and said...Mom, Jim needs to go back to school. Some people have it and others don't. When I was younger and living out of state, I would get letters from my little sister. I would reply to her letters and include her letter with the correct spelling of her words. She still brings that up to me when we see each other. She has got better with her spelling, but she still has trouble with some words. Thank goodness for spell check huh. Job I can relate to having spell check not know what word you are trying to use. My husband at times has trouble finding his word on spell check. I've gotten better with age, being able to overlook misspelled words. But at times...at work and with my husband, I lose it. posted by

I have yet to read an edition of the TN that does not contain a spelling error. It was within the last couple of weeks that one of the obits stated the deceased was a "plummer ". Hey Annette, don't forget 'then' and 'than'... posted by
