A Proud Momma Shows Off!
This is my son Sam's first art show here in Tehachapi, as his Mother I couldn't be prouder! Sam graduated from THS in 2006 and has been attending college in Sacramento for the past two years, this fall he will continue his education in the Arts & Sciences at Humboldt State University. Sam's art will be on display at Mama Hillybean's for the entire month of July, please drop by and check it out! In Peace, Annette Kirby P.S. Sparks has generously offered to make Sam his own website, when it's up I'll post the link here. 13 comments from 10 users

Annette, I haven't talked to Sam about what kind of theme he wants or even, about his domain name yet. But, I threw up a quick webpage for him so that people here can see his wonderful artwork. http://wud1.com/samkirby/ posted by

Great talent. Correct me if I am wrong, but it appears his work is done in water colors? If so, that is all the more impressive to me. posted by

Yes Jer72, most everything you see here is done in watercolor and ink...except for the murals of course! Sam discovered watercolor his senior year in high school and most of his work at Mama Hillybean's is watercolor. He does have some mixed media also, really cool mixtures of watercolor, ink, stencil, and spraypaint. Thanks everyone for the nice comments on Sam's work. In Peace, Annette

Thank you Stori, but it's Sam's artwork that makes his site http://wud1.com/samkirby/ look good, I just do the geeky part of it... He has a wonderful gift. posted by

A lot of the pictures you see here and on his new website (Thank you Sparks!!!) are not what are hanging in Mama Hillybean's, he's been very busy creating new art this past school year. Sam had several showings in Sacramento and was named Best Debut Artist by the Sacramento Fine Arts League. More bragging, I know, I'll stop now. Olivia - What is your daughter's name? posted by

Peacetoyou, Let me know when your son has pictures of all his artwork so I can upload them all to his website. Is Sam planning to sell his art...if so, ask him to set up a BUSINESS paypal account when he has time. The business paypal account is free and it will allow him to sell his art online with ease. I know he has a busy day ahead of him. When he lets me know what he wants the name of his domain to be, I will design his real site with ecommerce as well. posted by

You and your son should be very proud, and you should NOT stop bragging!! As Mama, you have full bragging rights. Sam's work is beautiful... awesome. I'm excited that he's going up to Humboldt... that's where my sisters and I all went. One of my sisters is still living up there. She hasn't left since she went up there to go to school in 1988. It's easy to fall in love with the place. Sam looks like he will fit right in :). posted by

You should be proud, and I owe you a huge amount of thanks. Sam is a very nice young man and is a very hard worker. I amĀ happy that you contacted me about him. He has proven to be an asset to my business. I only wish he was going to school closer. I would hire him in a minute for a full time position at my restaurant (when it opens).
