Is it just me or does anyone else find it funny that Boron is on the West Team and the Bakersfield teams are on the East Team? Also, if this is the Kern All Star softball, where is Ridgecrest (AKA Burroghs HS)? I don't know how the ALL Star teams are picked so I am just asking. posted by

There is a shortage of quality senior pitchers in the county this year. The 2 best being at Desert and Boron. It was decided that we would split them between the two teams to balance the competition to keep the games balanced. We didn't want blowouts. We want all the girls to enjoy the experience. We have tried to balance both teams so this will happen? We said the teams would be "Loosely" based east vs west with the original dividing line being Hwy 99. After all this game is so the girls can be seen one last time by college coaches, parents, fans and their supporters. The Burroughs of Ridgecrest Athletic Director was sent 2 postal letters and 4 e-mails (along with all the other 30 high schools in Kern County) asking them to take part, they chose not to respond to any of the letters.

Okay, I had no idea how or why the teams were created like they were. Didn't make since to me until explained. Sadly I feel that Burroughs may have cost their students a good break into college. Thankx for explaining.
