A Racist, or just conditioned?

Here I go throwing myself right in the pit of fiery vulnerability. All this stuff about racism lately, who gives S#%T. Then I remembered I thought ooohchild was black. When I saw her, I told her, we all got a good laugh. I didn't think she was black because of her blog content, actually I couldn't tell you one thing she's said, I'll have to go back & check it out, every time I saw oohchild's, blog, I do a little wiggle, you know, I get my best Queen Latifah voice &  do a lil' shimmy & squeal.. "OOOOH CHILD!" Now I'm gonna miss that, eh, I'll still do it. So I definitely subconsciously, categorized her. Does that make me a racist? How many of you were surprised by the difference in the persons appearance vs. your mental picture. This has got to be typical. So ..racist, or a product of our environment?

Hi ragmop, Mr. Leykis, isn't that crazy!! I was on my way back from Mexico & if any one has spent time in Mex. & are making that drive back, it's NEVER a fun trip. Horrible. Bumper traffic, middle of the day, hot, stinky, ya know. So I run across Leykus on the radio, it was classic Leykus, to the T. I loved it, I thought, this guy must be HOT! Yeah he's got an ego, why do I care, To have an ego & be that confident, he must be yummy! OMG. When I saw him, I was horrified, I thought , what a d#$k! Who does he think he is? Well, I guess he's Tom Leykys. if I ever do get to catch his show, I just shake my head & think, what an a$$. He got me good, you too ragmop? Gotta love it.

Back to the blog subject about forming mental pictures of people... I didn't come to the bloggers Meet/Greet last night but I have mental pictures of most and would have been as surprised as everyone else seeing the 'real' faces.. nothing like I had imagined.   I sort of like my fantasy pictures though.. I might have been very disappointed, sort of like the major Tom Leykis letdown.   Yup, he got me good, Lori.  LOL

Ragmop...  you need to get your butt down to our next meeting.    It was a lot of fun, and the entertainment wasn't bad either.   There was one gal there that could really sing...absolutely beautiful!

Will be at the Farmer's Market as well.  Need some fresh tomato's!!!

Lyksis could be fun to listen to, I think his core advice of not gettig married until later in life and not to get too serious with anyone person was good advice.  Last I heard he was on 97.1 FREE radio.

Oh well.

reffup, yeah right, on Tom's advice. Sounds solid, oh yeah, I believe, blah, blah," wow, what was that? A pretty smile, handsome bone structure," then.... "Oh I know, I know, but this one's different. Really!"  Haven't we all been there? If you haven't, well you should get the statement in writing, ( your own) , have it notarized, & mount it on the wall. I gaurantee,  you'll still think yours is differen't. Even The Man himself, can't do it. Look out for wolves in sheep's clothing. Right Job. Geez, this is how stupid I am, most relationships I was in, I knew it was pointless, I guess I just figured, oh well, maybe I was bored, bottom line, I love weddings, ( recptions) so, please count me in! Reffup, what was the point? Oh my, I am out of control, well, there was my first admitted RANT.  Anyway, I used to love Leykus, ragmop's right though he could get on a tangent, time to change the station. Okay, I just got finished brushing Zeus, now a shower is necessary before F. M. YeeHaw

I hear what you're saying about those wolves. Here are some scriptures for thought along that line. The funny thing is, she tried to use that line on me.

"Don't be naive. There are difficult times ahead. As the end approaches, people are going to be self-absorbed, money-hungry, self-promoting, stuck-up, profane, contemptuous of parents, crude, coarse, dog-eat-dog, unbending, slanderers, impulsively wild, savage, cynical, treacherous, ruthless, bloated windbags, addicted to lust, and allergic to God. They'll make a show of religion, but behind the scenes they're animals. Stay clear of these people." (The Message, 2 Timothy 3:1-5)

Now on subject. I don't think you were racist at all. I grew up in the south where it still exists to some extent, well maybe more than some. After I joined the Army and began to work with many different races, I leaned under the skin we are all the same. I don't even think about skin color anymore. I heard on a national radio talk show once the host describing someone by there skin color, I got so mad I called him up and chewed him out live on the air. My kids grew up understanding not to judge anyone by the color of skin or there appearance. I'm proud of both of my kids because they are engaged to others of a different race.
