GOD BLESS AMERICA! What's Your Fancy on the 4th?
What is going to tickle your fancy today? What have you waited for all year? I was just washing up some dishes, & heard the jets flying over my house. I thought to myself, Lori, their just really big planes going really fast, you don't need to run out there! Well, of course I do!!! It was the Air Force 3 cool jets doing twirls, going really fast, really low, really exciting, it gave me & my neighbors chills!! Great way to get excited about AMERICA, OUR COUNTRY !!! Forgive the lamen terms for the plane tricks, I callz um, like I seez um. Let's celebrate America & do our troops proud! 48 comments from 13 users

I just got done working out in the yard. Planted some plants, and walked my garden while drinking my morning cup of joe. I have my first baby set on a tomato, on the plants i started from seed!!!! They have been enjoying the heat. I am gonna get cleaned up, pack my dinner, and then go walk around the downtown/ city park before leaving for work at one. Everyone have a happy, and safe 4th of July. If you are gonna drink and drive, drink pepsi!!!!
You would think having worked over six years in a control tower, I would not need to look up at airplanes or jets, but I just can't help myself. I have been at the receiving end of more than one call saying are you aware there are jets flying over my house low? My reply was always yes ma'am that is the sound of freedom! What I always wanted to say was "what? jets flying over your house we have none flying right now, looks like the Russian's are finally invading!!! I would evacuate if I was you!!!"

I drove into Tehachapi to see the old airforce jets and the pilots do their thing. Stopped at Home Depot to buy a couple trees while I was there. Oh hey, does anyone know of a good doctor in town that knows a thing or two about feet? I think my friend has fractured her left foot. Not my fault...just because I run down a hill doesn't mean she had to. I rarely go anywhere on the 4th. I invite a couple friends over ..wave my flag and have a BBQ, and today is one of the few times a year that I will enjoy a couple beers. Happy Fourth everyone! posted by

It was sooooo good and A LOT of food!! That will definitely be my booth of choice at these town get togethers. Saw Storilori, and reffup, Jewels out there. Jewels was the first person we recognized as we were approaching the park. It was great to see you. I hope you have sweet dreams tonight. ROTFLMAO. : ) I have to work 9p - 5a tonight. I hope I don't see anyone I know tonight. Be safe and enjoy your day. posted by

Lori, why bother getting dressed? Just run outside!!!! Reffup It would be a cool job working at the HD garden section. They have always been helpful when I have bought stuff. I had to laugh about what you said about the Russians invading! When I used to work at the ER people would call in and say their son just cut in chin and does it need stitches? I was always tempted to say, "Hold him up to the phone so I can take a look!" but I managed to maintain my professional ism plus I didn't want to be called into the nursing supervisors office....the other time I called in was because patients complained about a french fry fight in the ER and I started it.

How many people would believe it?? Too many that is why you can't joke. Reminds me of a story a old supe told me. He was working at Nellis Tower in Las Vegas and it was slow. So they called down to Base Ops and told the trainee down there the the submersible aircraft carrier they were testing in Lake Meade wouldn't come to the surface so 18 F14's were diverting to Nellis. It was all good until the trainee rang out the secondary crash phone and noitfied the whole base. He said his commander scolded him then broke out laughing. posted by

The sound of freedom? Its the sound the folks on the receiving end for the bombs and guns hear, I guess...the irony that the planes themselves are Warsaw Pact surplus shouldn't be lost on anyone old enough to remember the Cold War. Would the sound of those engines heading west over the Fulda Gap been the "sound of freedom"? Over our park, in the center of town, all those annoying repetitive and fuel-wasting fly-bys do is create a safety hazard, drown out the entertainment, and make me flinch... So if the roar of Czechoslovakian jet engines is the "sound of freedom" , are the happy noises of people enjoying a peaceful day in the park, uninterrupted by the sound of war, the "sound of tyranny"?

Did you hear that, reffup? The sound of freedom! Jets just went by.. 3:40. I talked to the guys w/ the booth about The Train Depot. Looks like they're shooting to have it re-constructed by August of next year, to coincide w/ the Centennial celebration. I would consider them a " reliable source ". Dennis & Pete were their names, they also mentioned they feel the reason for the hush, hush, on exposing their names is ; community retaliation, their safety. Hmmmm. I wonder if they would be so concerned about " my " safety. Anyway, I think The Train Depot should be re-built, so good news on that, @ least it's a decision. Afterall, it's the only depot that is still on it's original site. posted by

No I didn't hear them I am at work :( I was not referring to the particular jets at Tehachapi, I was referring to U.S.A.F. aircraft that I worked in the Military. It is also the sound you hear when they depart to protect us. I agree that someone dies when we utilize our weapon systems. But during the cold war, it was the sound of them that enforced the mutually assured destruction that kept us from having to utilize weapons far worse then a bomber. For the record I do not agree with the Iraq war, I thought it distracted us from catching the people responsible for 9/11 in Afghanistan. |
