What's on your menu Tehachapi?
I like the meat and potatoes stuff, but what really whets my appetite is variety. The more exotic the more palatable.

So whadya get?
Apparrently men really take it to heart when you say you aren't going to buy each other presents. Still, I wanted my kids to have something they could give to Daddy on Christmas morning, so we bought some $1 store and a few inexpensive presents. He beamed proudly as he opened a beautiful golden chicken (piggy) bank, some party music CD's and a nice warm pair of slippers.
My husband expressed only the briefest regret as he watched while I wrapped the one gift I bought for myself, so my kids could give me something other than their own preciously wrapped toys.  Next year I'll be more specific.
So what did you get?

I made out like a bandit this year......one of the benefits of shopping for yourself. (grin)

So sorry to hear that Joty! Maybe this will cheer you up...
I wish I was a glow worm, a glow worm's never glum...
How can you be grumpy when the sun shines out of your bum!

Countygirl, I'll have to go shopping with you next year!

My hubby and I also skipped gifts from each other this year. My 4 year old gave us a very nicely scribbled banner that says PEACE on construction paper.  We kept the gifts simple for the kids this year too.... a few clothing items and books and one "big thing" each. My 3 year old's big gift was a "Moon Sand" play set. Man, that stuff is amazing!  That's my favorite gift -- even though it's not mine! Ha!  But I am having so much fun playing with her!  My 4 y/o got a robotic dinosaur, and the other two kids are terrified of it... but I bet you can guess what his favorite thing is?!

WHAT A RELIEF! That's the best news I've heard the whole entire year! God bless you jewels! See, that collander really does protect you!

That is great news.  Maybe all the little good wishes reaching out from directions help some.  Regardless, it is awesome to hear that Jewels.

Eek, I hope you feel better!
And Joty, I hope I made you laugh...
countygirl, I LOVE to shop online but I have dial up. ; (
awsmom8,  your ride sounds  totally pimped! (I've been told that's a "good" thing)
sunshine, I was totally disappointed in Moon Sand last year.  Maybe I'm (I mean we're) not playing with it the right way.  We had tiny clumps all over the place within minutes and there was hardly any left to play with after a half hour.

I got this awesome down coat from my parents---it's real light but warm and not real bulky.  I didn't own a decent coat, I just layered the heck out of myself and then complain it was too bulky.  I guess I won't be giving away this coat for the needy, it cost way too much money and coming from my parents!  I got new speakers for the computer, I love listening to my music.  I got a toaster oven, which was really needed---I just threw my old one away 4 days ago!  A couple funny shirts, target rounds for my .38, and my hubby gave me a printer/scanner/copy machine.  A comforter set, a little deep fryer thingy.  I made out pretty well.  But of course the kids made out like bandits.  From us my son got a compound bow and my parents got him a Ultimate Bumblebee Transformer and a Karaoke Machine.  My youngest boy got a jumpy house thing, Lincoln logs, some trucks from us and my parents gave him a little Razor scooter that he sits on and a horse (not a real one) and a Mater sit-on truck thing with all the noises.  We played cards all day Christmas before doing dinner.  It was a great couple of days for us.  No stress, just family time.

You did give me a giggle Sush. I wrote that down to use later....   :)

That's wonderful news Jewels, I hope we all see good health in the new year.

eek, why does that stomach flu always seem to hit at the holidays? Last year it was Thanksgiving for all of us, this year my daughter's MIL was down with it Christmas day.

I shopped by mail this year. Never again. They really gouge you with the s/h costs (what a scam!), and then two of my orders never showed up.

We weren't supposed to buy each other gifts this year either, but I found a sign I had to buy my hubby. He just finished building this HUGE "workshop" for his mistress (a 54 Ford). The sign reads "Garage Mahal". He loved it.

Joty--I usually shop Amazon because of there free shipping or chose websites that have free shipping if you spent over $50.  My daughter wanted the Monopoly "Pink Jelerwy Box" edition.  It was $49.00 on Amazon but only $14.99 (one day special) from Toys R Us with free shipping if I spent over $50.  So I ordered a few other things for her from Toys R Us and finished my shopping.  It pays to look around and compare prices. I also compare prices on ebay as sometimes it is a better deal even if you pay for shipping.
