What's on your menu Tehachapi?
I like the meat and potatoes stuff, but what really whets my appetite is variety. The more exotic the more palatable.

Would you watch?

Okay, be honest, if you're not already going to city council and other local govt. meetings are you going to sit at home and watch them if they are broadcast on TV? If so, how many of those concerned citizens actually get the govt. channel - whatever it is ? I don't.

Assuming that civic minded individuals just can't wait to watch local govt. in action from the comfort of  their couches (instead of watching American Idol)  will TIVO'd meetings and coffee clatches replace the blogs to debate and discuss what happened at these meetings?

Has anybody asked how much this kind of broadcast or taping would cost the city? How much are you wiling to pay for this "public service?"

Assuming you want these meetings taped, because you can't attend - but really wish you (and the huddled masses) could - how do you find out about what happens at these meetings now?   I honestly want to know what others think about this topic.

Ah yes I do have high speed.  I forget that some people are still on dialup.  In that case, I propose they spend the money on providing city-wide high speed for everyone instead of spending money on the cable channel. :)   Earthlink is wiring up all kinds of cities all over the country.  We should get involved with that!

As I'm new to the area, what is the towns main source of income for the towns economy if most people don't live here?  Tourism?

You must have high speed internet. It would probably take me about an hour to load 10 minutes of video, maybe more. Not everyone who is concerned about city business actually lives in the city or has access to cable. In fact, I believe the "city" only accounts for about 1/4 of the area's population, so it would seem that county residents probably contribute more to the city's economy than the city residents do.

This seems silly in my opinion.  Why not just make a video and upload it to the Internet.  We have things like YouTube and Google Video now a days and its a LOT cheaper than broadcasting...  All you need is a cheap camcorder and a computer.
