Anyone know where a cat can get a decent egg salad sandwich in town? I went to the place where I was sure there'd be one, only to discover I was wrong. Or, better yet, anyone have a recipe for a egg salad? The one I tried a couple of weeks ago was, in a word, icky. So, I went to go see "There Will be Blood" this weekend, just before the Oscars. As a big PT Anderson fan, I thought it was a good film and that Daniel Day Lewis was excellent. Unfortunately, I think that was almost the only film I saw this year that was up for an Oscar. Anyone see any of the others? I'm dying to see "No Country for Old Men" since I'm a big Coen brothers fan, but haven't gotten to it yet. And "Michael Clayton" since I can stare at George Clooney all day *sigh* Were they worthy, or not worth the effort? Anything out there flying under the radar that I should be on the lookout for? Valentine's Day is just around the corner and I was trying to think of favorite romance movies of mine. I know that I'm forgetting a bunch, so I thought I would throw it out there for my fellow bloggers. What are your picks? Mine are:
C'mon and play along... O.K., I stole this from another web site because I thought it would be fun to play here. It's pretty simple. Just copy and paste the questions into the comment box and replace my answers with your own. Happy Friday!

So, am I the only one who found the ads that were run at this year's Super Bowl just a little creepy? I mean, I've got the bar set pretty low in terms of what I think makes a good ad, but a number of the ads that were shown just seemed mean-spirited / unfunny / weird. Or am I just too old? I'm curious, given all of the political-type discussions that take place here. How many of you fellow bloggers are planning to vote in the primary? It seems like a lot of people think the primary is not important enough to vote in, and are only planning to turn out for the general election in November. I'm a political nut, so not only will I be voting, I might have to leave work early so I can be at home and all settled in before the polls close on the East coast. I love it! It seems almost certain that the government is planning to send out checks as a way to try and give the economy a little boost. I think all they're waiting on now is a decision on who's getting what, since seniors living on Social Security have recently been added to the recipeint list. So, with the checks all but on their way, how do you plan on spending yours? For me, I might buy a couple of items for the house that I've been putting off. I'll also give a bump to a couple of my favorite charities, since I consider it found money, and in my book, found money that is shared multiplies. Anyone else have plans already?
Who'da guessed? I know some dogs have an affinity for beer. Mine's no different. Just smelling the open bottleneck is like a little bit of heaven for him. But the other night I was sitting watching politics with a glass of white wine (which is one of the best ways to watch politics), and there he was, sniffing like there was no tomorrow. So, I dipped my finger into the wine and put it by his nose, thinking the alcohol smell would back him up. But noooooooooooo, he started licking my finger as though it was covered in barbeque sauce! Now I can't keep the little derelict away from my glass.
So, when the schools call a snow day, does that mean you take the day off from work, too? Do you have to, because of childcare issues, or is it just a good excuse to get a bonus day off?
I don't have kids at home (not the two-legged kind, anyway), so mere school closures aren't enough to keep me at home.
Unless I do the fake-illness thing, of course. And I'd never do that :o)
When I previously revealed my affinity for adding water to shampoo, conditioner, etc. to use every last drop, several of you showed me that I'm not the only one who has these odd little quirks.
In that spirit, here's another one. I hate putting my hand inside of a bag, box or container that is holding food. I'm talking about potato chip bags, popcorn bags, boxes of crackers, ice cream containers, etc. I will cut off a bag to avoid having to reach inside it. Heck, I'll cut off an ice cream container, too, if it mean I don't have to have my hand in it. I can't stand having the oil, salt, ice cream cling-ons, etc. stuck to the back of my hand. If I am scooping out ice cream and some gets on my hand I have to stop --- right then --- and wash it off before I can finish scooping. My DH considers this simply beyond the pale, especially when these are the same hands that will trim the hair off of the dog's dingle jacket without a second thought. But, as I've mentioned to him, that really isn't the same thing... |
