Big ticket items
I was watching TV last night and saw a commercial for the Playstation 3 gaming system. In the ad it was advertised for $399. My first thought was "Wow."

Then it hit me. People are actually planning to spend $399 for a game system. For their kids. For Christmas. No matter how I looked at it, that seems like an awfully big-ticket purchase for a holiday gift. Then, of course, I thought of all of you and thought, who better to ask than this eclectic group of people?

What was the biggest-ticket item you bought for your kids, for Christmas or a birthday? I'm not counting those parents who buy cars for college graduation.

And, what was the biggest-ticket item your parents ever bought for you? In my family I don't think my parents ever spent $100 on a single gift item, let alone the amount of the game systems now.  I'm straining my brain to remember the most expensive gift I ever got. It was probably the purple suede fringed jacket I got one year for Christmas...and I thought it was way cool :o)

ooh I loved Headbangers Ball.  Yeah, I stopped watching when it wasn't music anymore.  But I do have to say I get kick out of watching VH1 sometimes, but they too have now went to movies and shows and crap!  Where are just videos anymore?  I mean maybe they should have a VH1 Movie channel, or a MTV Reality show channel.  Bring back the freaking videos!!!!!!

I think Kurt Loder was the original News Guy.

The guy with Bette was Dan Ackroyd. He's pretty weird, but he's so good in so many of my favorite flicks. Driving Miss Daisy, of course, but I also loved his character in Grosse Pointe Blank. What'cha doin' next, Danny boy?

Didn't take off my shoes, bigdog. If I ever get back I'll try it (room for one more this Xmas?)

;-)

One of the best deals about Disneyland is that Tehachapi residents live in the  furthest zipcode that still qualifies for the yearly passes.  I just  talked to the kids earlier today and we agreed to go "light" on Christmas presents this year and instead get yearly passes to Disneyland.  They have 3 levels of passes and I think we will get the intermediate $239 pass this year.  That way every few months we can fire up the motorhome and stay at Walmart at night and have a cheap (except for gas!) mini vacation every few months.  My kids are 12 and 14 now and old enough to go off by themselves for a few hours with a cell phone and strict orders to stay together.  Imagine that!!! I can finally stroll the park by myself and go where I WANT TO GO!

We have  3 small little backpacks that we take with us.  Just big enough for a few "Fluff and Nutter" sandwiches, an apple and a H20 bottles, a candy bar and a few snacks and EXCEDERIN for me and a rain poncho for the H20 rides if it's chilly out.
