Most/least favorite part of your house
I had a couple of pieces of new furniture delivered today (just a coffee table and an end table, no biggie) and, as usual, the people delivering commented on how much they liked the artwork in our house.
It's kind of funny, because while we do have several interesting pieces hanging on our walls, the majority of what people comment on when they come over are framed album covers. We change them out every six months or so, just to give the rooms a different look for us, but we didn't consider them a big deal until other people kept pointing out how very cool they are. Now they may be one of my favorite things about the house. Plus, the art draws attention away from what might be one of the ugliest kitchens in all of Kern County. My dream is to someday get it remodeled, but I sure wish the lottery people would hurry up and pick me, so I can fund it :o) Now that we're in the season of others coming by your home, what are the most favorite and least favorite parts of your house? Is there something you display with pride, while you do your best to camouflage something else? 6 comments from 6 users

When we moved in we went a bit color crazy- after living with beige apartment walls for so long we wanted tons and tons of color. Our living room is a deep green, on the more yellow side, and it's the most neutral room in the house. I think it overwhelms people sometimes, but I absolutely love it. I'd love to have all that lotto money too, to redecorate and really play on all the color, but for now we have all hand-me-down (pre-loved and re-loved) furniture. posted by

My house is an hgtv nightmare.... it's new, it's big enough, but it looks like an office, no matter what room you go into. The living room is wall to wall books, the family room is all tech stuff, flat screen, xbox, bose stereo. and other tech toys.. One of the bedrooms is full of computers I keep promising myself I will fix someday. etc etc etc. My artwork... my digital art of course. Geez. lol It doesn't matter where I live or what house I am livie in... my geekiness follows. So it's not really the house...it's me. lol posted by

I live in what some people might call 'quaint' house in town. It was started in 1925 (at 340 sq. ft.) and built on from there. It's odd and I love it! It's lack of closet space is the house's biggest problem for me. It's not so bad now that the kids have moved out, but who couldn't use more closet space?

For me, our house is the perfect example of "Be careful what you wish for, you just might get it." We looked at dozens of homes on the market when we moved here, but I was looking for one specific feature. I wanted an area of the house where my hubby could set up his ultimate stereo system any way he wanted & I wouldn't have to deal with equipment laying around in various states of repair & upgrades. Our home has 3 levels, so I thought the lowest level had a room that was just perfect for his home business/hobby. Well, he has taken over that entire level of the house. I can't even walk down there anymore without my blood pressure rising about 20 points; every room looks like a disaster area. Since we have friends visiting next month, he has promised to get the guest room down there cleared out so I can get it ready for them. So far, it still looks like a tornado ran through there. At least he finally fixed all of the holes he cut in the ceiling when he was planning to turn it into a theatre room (that idea fizzled out eventually); it only took 18 months or so to complete! But the best feature of our home has got to be our views. We have a wrap around deck on the second level, and we overlook most of BVS since we're elevated a few hundred feet above the valley floor. The sunsets are spectacular!
