Movies for canoodling

Valentine's Day is just around the corner and I was trying to think of favorite romance movies of mine. I know that I'm forgetting a bunch, so I thought I would throw it out there for my fellow bloggers.

What are your picks? Mine are:

  • The Fisher King (still love it)
  • While You Were Sleeping
  • High Fidelity
  • Chasing Amy
  • Shadowlands
  • Out of Africa

C'mon and play along...

Wow, I love movies, can think of a zillion (ok, slight exaggeration). I've narrowed it down.

Gone With the Wind

Ghost

Titanic

Always

Like Water For Chocolate

A Place In The Sun

Splendor In The Grass

Dr. Zhivago

Somewhere In Time

The Way We Were

Body Heat (oooo - sizzle!)

And my favorite romantic comedy of all times is Romancing The Stone

Oh, Chocolat...can't believe I missed that one.

And I know that people loved Titanic, but I couldn't stand that film. I'm odd that way. My DH can watch it at least once a year, but he has to do it on his own :o)

I understand, that's how I felt about Officer and a Gentleman...so smarmy...even though it had Richard Gere.

This one is pretty cheesy, but I really like Love Actually.  (Yes, can't forget Chocolat...  did you know that I have a poster of Johnny Depp on my wall, lol!)  Hmm... Bringing up Baby and The Philadelphia Story are pretty good.  Oh, and the good Pride and Prejudice

Does anyone like An Affair to Remember?  The beginning is so good, but the end just kills it for me!

Amen to Pride and Prejudice and While You Were Sleeping.  2 of my faves.

I can't believe that no one has mentioned ---- THE NOTEBOOK!

I am the kind of person who hates to watch movies more than once but the notebook I can watch over and over again. I cry every time.

I forgot  Love Story...you know, "love means never having to say you're sorry..."

I've never seen Chocolat, and I'm a huge Depp fan. I've never seen the Notebook either...

I'll add:

Notting Hill

City of Angels

Some Kind of Wonderful

Fever Pitch (and I'm not even a baseball fan)

Fried Green Tomatoes

Brokeback Mountain (yeah, go ahead, say somthin')

Romeo & Juliet (the one from the '60s)

You know what?  I'm going to add 50 First Dates to this.  I think any love story where one of the people loves unconditionally in the face of such adversity (even if taken light-heartedly) is extremely moving.  The stuff Adam Sandler faces in that movie actually reminds me of some older couples that I have known that have dealt with Alzheimer's.

Brokeback mountain??, oh yea, I liked part 2 better, did you see that one?

Starbucks...I'm a little disappointed that that's the best you could come up with. Way to take a nice blog post and turn it into something tawdry. Oh well, boys will be boys, I guess. Guess that's why I prefer men.

Kinda makes me feel sorry for his wife/girlfriend...

Sorry if your sense of humor doesn't engage on the Brokeback picture girls, its actually an old joke that most people find funny, oh, and Joty, my wife did see that picture a long time ago and laughed, then again , she does have a sense of humor, ease up girls, its just a joke,, and to awsome mom, yea, thats funny, "you've got mail", gee, you seem to get my joke too, makes me wonder how many other people who read this got a chuckle out of it, I bet most people,,

It's a joke in bad taste, a little boy's wet dream. This wasn't the blog for it.
