What's the goofiest thing your pet does?
All pets do something that causes their humans to shake their heads in wonder.

I know one dog who hunts down and eats earwigs (pincherbugs). then there's a certain cat (and I'm not naming names...) who will chase down her humans for a good whiff of their mouthwash.

Another dog I know "sings" to certain songs he hears on the stereo.

How about your guys? Anything weirder than this?

My shephard Greta watches TV. She gets a very alert look and cocks her head when there are animals involved. My lab Duke is oblivious. It's interesting that one dog knows that something is going on while another is clueless.

I had this one cat that loved to watch "Tom and Jerry" cartoons.

One of my youngest cats likes to steel my used Q-tips and tissues from the trash so I have to lock the trash up to keep him from "trashing" the room.

One dog we had (since passed) loved rocks, when we went camping he would "fish" out the perfect rock from the river and pile them up on shore after he got about 10 different ones he would choose one and take it into the bushes and chew on it, bark at it and play with it for hours.

All the cats and dogs think I am a mattress sometimes when I wake up I'm pinned. I could write a book of funny things they do but this was what popped into my mind first.

One of my dogs thinks that dryer sheets are perfume and when ever she sees it she will rub her whole body all over it. It's pretty funny to watch.

Every one has such good pet stories - made me laugh out loud because I have, or have had, pets that do exactly the same thing.  Our current tuxedo cat, Loopy (because she is) - does that same trick as lovmykats.  Have to keep my bathroom trash well hidden or else it is all over the house the next morning.  And the plastic bag thing ... what is that all about?  I wake up to that crispy crunch sound of Loopy climging in and out of any plastic bag I have accidently left out.  Our big cat, MaMa, doesn't see so well and watching her jump around her own shadow - well, will make you laugh until your sides hurt.

My father said he "hated" cats....until Brownie.  Brownie would get up onto a women's lap and put his paws on her chest and her gently knead his paws.  He never scratched or put his claws out.  My dad loved the cat after that.  He said he was a "man's" cat.

The next story is not for the faint of heart....we used to live out in the country, and people do things a bit different in the country.  We had a dog that was the most happy-go-lucky dog.  But he loved to kill chickens.  So my parents said to break him of this we need to tie a dead chicken around his neck according to how things were done in the "old days".  We did this and Dancy would spend hours playing with the chicken around his neck.  He would swat it with his paws, run and swing it around just having a grand ole time.  He ended up having a "good luck" charm around his neck.  He just had a chicken foot hanging around his neck that he chewed on all the time.  We got some strange looks from people.

We also had a cow that would get out of his area and push his way into the house via the kitchen door.  The only way my mom could get her out was with cool-aid.  She loved cool-aid (cherry)

Growing up we had a big white dog. She loved to kill chickens and in those days where we lived nobody seemed to fence their animals in. I knew what streets to avoid. Any way, our dog killed a duck and in a desperate attempt to stop Gwen our dog from continuing to kill, my dad tied the dead duck to Gwen's neck. Well.. Gwen liked to roam down to the local park and she decided to go to the park with the duck around her neck. Needless to say, a good Samaritan followed Gwen home and gave my parents an earful about cruelty to animals.
Gwen continued to kill and eventually the neighbor poisoned Gwen and killed her. The story above made me think about Gwen. She was a really great friend to all six of us kids.

In Maui, where I lived on and off for the better part of a couple decades, everyone leaves their "slippahs" (or flip-flops as most Cally people call them) outside the front door.
So, on Maui, it is not uncommon to see a dog with an extensive "lei" of slippahs tied around the neck as a so-called deterrent to slippah theft.

O.K., true confessions time. One of my cats chews on my toothbrush. Really, it sounds grosser than it (probably) is.

Another cat makes it their mission to drink out of my water glass.

You know, when you put it in writing like that, makes it hard to remember why I even like those two...  :o)

Oh! Mine too! My "kitten" regularly steals my kids' toothbrushes, which leads me to believe that she has a penchant for fresh breath and dential hygiene...which is why I am very concerned that my more mature cat tends to show her great affection for me mainly when I am seated in the bathroom...

I had one cat that thought the needle on my mom's sewing machine was the perfect toy especially when my mom was sewing.  She only did it once.  Another cat climbed into the dryer to take a nap.  We didn't know she was in there and when the dryer was started we heard a thump thump.  Don't worry both cats survived both experiences.  The first lived to be around 17 or 18.  The second is still around (though she doesn't go in the dryer anymore)

I busted out laughing when I read your post, the brother of my Q-tip stealer; Tom, decided one evening to get into the dryer and same thing happened I heard this thump, thump, thump and I thought to myself I don't remember putting anything like shoes into the dryer so I opened it and there he was a bit dizzy but other wise un hurt, he avoided the dryer for a few months after that. I am more careful to check now because these "boys" are into everything. I can laugh now but then I felt terrible.
