Any collectors out there?
I figure there are two types of people out there --- ones who collect things and ones who can't for the life of them cannot understand why people collect things :o)

I have a couple of collection weaknesses. The first, for sheer quantity, is my cat figurine collection. I didn't really set out to have a collection, but more and more people started buying me different figurines as gifts for birthdays and holidays, that I think there are now over 150 pieces or so. Most of them are displayed inside a chine cabinet, and I have to admit, I love them. There are crystal cats, wooden cats, and every other material I think a cat can be made of (except for actual cats, of course). I'm a complete sucker for a cat statue.

My second collection is smaller, but only because I've been doing it for a short time. I started collecting vintage dog licenses a couple of years ago. My favorite pieces are a Bulgarian one that dates back to the Ottoman Empire, and an African one dated 1898. For me, there's just something fascinating about the idea of pets and their people living together a century or so ago.

How about you? Any odd collections in your closet?

I just love old blue glass! Seriously, for those who know me, I collect old children's books and rocks. I am always looking for an interesting rock or mineral. I would join the rock and mineral club up here but I think I wouldn't be committed enough and I have a feeling I'd be the youngster.

I do like to collect certain things, mostly odd things from industrial sites or railroads.  I have a few hundred glass insulators from telephone poles and I have made a few nightlights out of them.  I salvaged several hundred projector lamps that were being thrown out at work and made a cabinet to display the most unusual ones.  And I'm always driving along railroads and picking up old discarded stuff.  Not sure what I'm gonna do with it all yet though!

I love glass insulators! I have no idea where to find them, outside of an antique store, but they are pretty cool to look at. As good a photographer as youa re, you should arrange them and take photos to show us :o)

My Dad has circled the top of his Gazebo with twinkle lit insulators. It is really pretty at night. I'm a scrounger also. I don't know what I will do with all of it but it is very cool stuff from old deserted mining towns, the tracks, desert and also the beach.

I collect dolphins & horses. I have loved horses all my life, and after I got my dolphin tattoo all my friends starting buying me all types of beautiful dolphins.

Weebles, you've inspired me to take some pix of them!  Maybe this weekend if I get a chance.  I'd be willing to part with some of my insulators if you're interested, no charge.  They're not valuable ones, just clear and green ones, but I like them.  I might also have a nightlight left if you're interested in that too.  I'll try to get a pic of that as well.
