Names by the wayside
I was watching a show the other night and for some reason got particularly interested in the names of the people they were talking about.

These days it seems we have a veritable army of Ashleys, Brittanys,  Joshuas  and Brians in the world. Know what we're running out of?

Joyces. And Thelmas, Bernieces and Marilyns. Male names are fading away too. How many Edwards do you see who aren't members of the AARP? How about Elmore, or Fred?

And I'm sure this is just the tip of the iceberg. How many other names are there that should apply for endangered species protection?

Velma, Verna, Victor, Versal, Vera

My grandmother loved those weird names. Her children gave their children names like: Mary, Ralph, Thomas, Diane, Sally, Patricia, Christine, Michael, Robert .....

Interesting; the back and forth between the usual and unusual.

Betsy, Louise, Eleanor, Joyce, Jean, Betty, Shirley, Jill, Bobby & Bob, Helen,Joanne, John, Bert, Marie and of course who would be so cruel as to call their child Dick even if it's short for Richard. These are just some of my relatives names-all over the age of 45.
