So, the does-it-all iPhone went on sale today. Is anyone planning to buy one?

For myself, I never even bothered to get a phone that takes pictures, let alone all that other stuff. And $500 for a phone?????? And that doesn't even include the cost for the phone line to access all of that cool iPhone stuff.

For that price it should be able to cook and take care of my laundry.

The earlier post about Albertson's reminded me to ask this. If the grocery store workers vote to strike, will you avoid going to Albertson's? I heard on the radio this morning that barely 7% of America's work force are union employees, which sounds about right once you take into consideration the giant companies like WalMart and the shifting of union jobs in manufacturing to overseas facilities.

So, are picket lines something that would keep you from shopping at a certain place, or not?

So here's today's time waster...

You have been given the gift of authorship. You will be provided the money, the time, the access to sources and the skills to write a book about anything you desire.

What do you write about?

If you didn't have to work tomorrow, what would you be doing?

For me, I'd be busy working out my dog. He's at that perfect age where he draws in information 9good and bad) like a sponge and has energy to burn. He and I would be dorking around in the backyard big-time.

Then we'd eat ice cream under the fan while watching trashy TV.

Lately I've seen more and more stories about anonymous people paying for things for strangers. The Californian recently ran a letter from someone who had her coffee paid for by the person in line in front of her at the drive-thru, people write about strangers paying the tab on a restaurant meal, or folks who have had items purchased in stores by someone they don't know.

So I started wondering, do you do things like this for others? Would you do pay for a coffee (or a meal) for a stranger?

Anyone out there doing anything fun this weekend?

On Saturday night, I'll be headed to the very frou-frou Valentin (in Bakersfield) for dinner with my DH. It'll be our first time checking the place out.

Other than that, I'm just hoping all of the plants I planted last weekend continue to do well. My jasmine looks like it's about to explode :o)

Oh yeah, and I almost forgot...I've got to get some organic ant control stuff. The little buggers are driving us crazy!

So, on my way to work this morning i strated thinking about some of my favorite concert DVDs, which led to thinking about some of my favorite music-related stuff, too. So I thought I'd see what other folks are into, picture-music-wise.

Here's a few of my faves:

Beatles Anthology - I've watched all 11+ hours three times, and it's still an awe-inspiring piece.

Pink Floyd / Pulse - Amazing group, amazing recording.

The Band / The Last Waltz - Can't imagine anyone not finding something in here to love.

A Concert for George - George Harrison's tribute concert, organized by Eric Clapton. Parts of it will break your heart.

Queen / The Magic Years - O.K., I cheated a little on this one, since I have it on VHS, not DVD, but only because the DVD isn't out. A great retrospective on the history of the band.

Leonard Cohen / I'm Your Man - Probably the only time you'll ever see U2 as a backup band.

O.K., your turn now!

My family tends to purchase DVDs to view. With the movie prices these days, it's usually cheaper than actually going to the theater to see them.

Anyway, I just have to say soemthing about "Not just the best of The Larry Sanders Show." If you ever watched The Larry Sanders Show on HBO, you know what a hilarious series it was. Well, this DVD set has some of the best episodes from the show, along with all sorts of added features that will make you laugh out loud.

So, there's my recommendation for the week. How about yours?
