Who'da guessed?

I know some dogs have an affinity for beer. Mine's no different. Just smelling the open bottleneck is like a little bit of heaven for him.

But the other night I was sitting watching politics with a glass of white wine (which is one of the best ways to watch politics), and there he was, sniffing like there was no tomorrow. So, I dipped my finger into the wine and put it by his nose, thinking the alcohol smell would back him up. But noooooooooooo, he started licking my finger as though it was covered in barbeque sauce!

Now I can't keep the little derelict away from my glass.

So, when the schools call a snow day, does that mean you take the day off from work, too? Do you have to, because of childcare issues, or is it just a good excuse to get a bonus day off?

I don't have kids at home (not the two-legged kind, anyway), so mere school closures aren't enough to keep me at home.

Unless I do the fake-illness thing, of course. And I'd never do that :o)

When I previously revealed my affinity for adding water to shampoo, conditioner, etc. to use every last drop, several of you showed me that I'm not the only one who has these odd little quirks.

In that spirit, here's another one.

I hate putting my hand inside of a bag, box or container that is holding food. I'm talking about potato chip bags, popcorn bags, boxes of crackers, ice cream containers, etc. I will cut off a bag to avoid having to reach inside it. Heck, I'll cut off an ice cream container, too, if it mean I don't have to have my hand in it. I can't stand having the oil, salt, ice cream cling-ons, etc. stuck to the back of my hand. If I am scooping out ice cream and some gets on my hand I have to stop --- right then --- and wash it off before I can finish scooping.

My DH considers this simply beyond the pale, especially when these are the same hands that will trim the hair off of the dog's dingle jacket without a second thought.

But, as I've mentioned to him, that really isn't the same thing...

It turns out that I have election fever. I have slowly de-evolved to the point where, in my off time, I am almost exclusively watching politics.

On Saturday I watched the debates on ABC. All four hours of them.

Then on Sunday I sat down for the Republican forum on Fox.

As a matter of fact, I think I've only missed one televised debate so far this season.

I watch CNN, Fox, MSNBC and CSPAN. You'd think I had a relative in the race.

It's exciting. The more you listen, the more you realize exactly how big an impact the nominee has on your life.

My DH and I have already agreed on sandwiches for dinner tonight so we can watch the New Hampshire primary results.

Anyone else out there have the fever?

Hey there, cats and kittens, I just wanted to say hello to everyone and wish them a very Happy New Year! I hope all of my blogging buddies had a great holiday and are ready to get whisker-deep into 2008.

I myself was on vacation for a while, but I'm back and ready to rock. Can't say the vacation was everything I dreamed it would be (more on that later) but it was nice to spend some time with the family and all.

Anyone have anything good to share?
