Catnic - I get my hair done at Secrets on Mill St. Sue is amazing with color and Kathy is great for all your skin care needs. Good luck with the delivery. Most places here I just get take-out. Everyone lives so far away from all the restauarants I don't think its affordable for them to attempt to deliver.

I lived in the City too. Out in the Parkside district a few blocks from Stern Grove. I had a Mexican, Japanese, Potuguese/Chinese, Italian, and Thai Noodle restaurants and a coffee house in walking distance from my old place. And my old roommate was a chef, so I got very spoiled.

Sorry Cat but We don't even have a fast food Chinese Restaurant.....I wish....I wish....I wish...... The Great wall is alright ( If I truly want an excellent Chinese dinner I have to go down the hill) but they need to change up the menu once in a while I have been here 6 years and they still have the same buffet items since I have moved here. I would say delivery is a luxury in Tehachapi.

I think there are more hair salons here than there are residents, and the good stylists are booked for months at a time which leaves the newbies so....I too am still looking for someone consistent. I don't like to make appointments in advance I mean a week is OK but not 6-8, when my hair needs to be cut; it needs to be cut; and unfortunately it won't grow on a schedule.

So I have learned to go with out my weekly Chinese fix and my hair looks like it looks because I wouldn't change Tehachapi to fit my old city lifestyle, I like the small town and if driving to Bakes is what I have to do to eat at PF Chang's so be it.

I lived on the top flat, on the corner of Haight/ Masonic. Right above The Holey Bagel !! Spoiled is an understatement, for sure. We still have the memories, North Beach was my favorite, I'm kidding my-self, I miss everything! I have a friend that's going up for a few days, & asked me for some POI, got any? Ha Ha, well, you know what I mean.

If you haven't already, check out The Chamber of Commerce, next to Taco Samich, they have some good stuff in there, for you to check out.

as much as i like panda express it doesnt even compare to the many styles of local resturants in san fran that catnic is used to, i remember staying up there for 2 weeks and everyday with in a 2 block radius you can have a different style of food. yes i understand the spoils of sanfran hheheheh. but tehachapi has grown in the last couple years, OMG a dell taco. yummmm nacho fries!!!!!

Yasobich, research came up w/ a statistic,years ago, that it would take something like 3 yrs., going to a different rest. every day, in order to hit them all. My problem was I had too many favorite places! I agree w/ you on Panda, I was responding to catz comment, I haven't tried Del Taco, although I stopped in @ The Wine & Cheese Cellar, & picked up a Caresse Pizza to go, OMG, what a treat for Tehachapi!!!

ya the traffic was horrendous, i still go up there every year for MACWorld in Jan, and i have my favorites in restaurants. i mean its the only place ive found that has awesome scheschwan food. and i miss really good gourmet pizza. But im back here in teh an i make do with what i have.

Ill have to try the Wine & Cheese Cellar sounds like a treat

I, for one, like the buffet at Great Wall and I'm glad it stays the same... lori, I agree their green beans are very good! Many times I have liked certain items on a menu and find when I go back, they have changed the menu and taken that item off and now they offer something else! Grrrr... frustrating. " New and Improved" isn't always for the best... new, yes... improved... not always.

Yaso... could you do something about that blinking?? It's irritating and I don't even want to read your comments, although I'm sure you are a nice guy. lol

I'm not really one for 'chains', but I was in Simi Valley recently,which was considered, the boondocks, & i thought I was in heaven, while @ Macaroni Grill. Tehachapi is so beautiful, where is there a restaurant that takes advantage of the beauty, with a nice dining patio, & a menu that can deliver, fresh, versatile,aesthetic, & yummy food?

Have any of you been to King of Siam, over on Tucker? That is some fantastic food! I really like the Garlic and Pepper beef, and the Satay chicken. I haven't tried any of the curries yet because everyone I know hates curry, but someday I'll give it a try. Maybe theirs are yummy- last time I was in there everyone else seemed to be ordering curry.

Mmm... CPK. I always get the same pizza though! The one with tomato and basil on it. I need to expand my horizons. I'd try the wine place here, but I loathe wine. And I'd feel awkward being around the "wine-drinking" crowd. It's a little different than the "beer-drinking" crowd :) I have to wait until my sister comes up again (she's the family wino).

She is over there now, I sat @ the bar & talked to her & the bartender , I only had water, ( I just left a nice tip to compensate) while I waited for my most amazing pizza, to go, was ready. Any way I was by my self, I just talked to them, actually Debbie offered me a beer, don't wait for your sister! You'll be sorry, I'll go w/ you anytime madcow, day or night.

I wonder if someone started a food delivery business in town, how would that fly? I know they do it in large cities. Contract with 2 or 3 local restaurants, advertise one's services, maybe start with just lunch delivery. Start deliveries around 11:30 am through 2:00 pm. I'll bet one could deliver to at least 10 businesses that way.

Madkow I use to loath wine too until I went wine tasting one day after the 3rd winery it was all good! I ended up with a case of wine from various winery's, I was toasted by the end of that tour and have a new appreciation for it. -{Good wine}- is defiantly worth the cost. I still hang with the beer drinking crowd for the most part but now at least I don't make funny faces when I drink wine. Try it some time; the winery here is a good experience and I have been told there is another one in Cummings Valley (I plan to try).

Storilori I have my favorites here too for what we got but I do understand wanting more variety--How about a new Mexican restaurant? --Just Kidding--LOL

Here's the thing about running a delivery service, from what I can find out online... You have to obtain a business license from the city, a Ficticious Business Name Statement for Kern Co., possibly a CA ID #, and possibly a Registration Form for Employers. Then you need to change vehicle registration to a work vehicle and purchase business insurance (possibly umbrella insurance?). Also have to pay for a website (and fees associated with accepting credit cards or Paypal) and advertising. And then deal with the IRS on taxes...

Anyway, that's what my hubby and I figured after some research. My husband is too realistic for dreaming and scheming :( But he also knows what it's like to lose everything on a business- which explains all the caution and the need to do everything by the letter.

i lived in Santa Barbara for 5 years and let me tell you, they had so many neat restaurants there that didn't have the "Chain" effect. My ex is also a pastry chef so i was spoiled with home cooking, and we always liked to try new places.

what ever happened to satterfields and brewers HA, i remember going to brewers late at night after i closed down the bar, it was the only place in Tehachapi that was open 24hours at the time. before dennys

Oh well, I'm glad you guys looked into it anyway. I guess that's why so few restaurants offer delivery; I'm sure the rules would apply to them also.

I'd love a M&G involving wine! I used to do public relations for a winery on the Central Coast. Best job I ever had, even though the owner was Type A & I didn't get paid very much. The fringe benefits made up for it!
