What's with the anonymous Blogs? - - ChristineFroehlich's Blog - Tehachapi News

This is said with no ill feelings or need to cause a stir. I would just like to get some feedback on the Anonymous Bloggers and how you as a fellow blogger feel about it.
Why hide behind the anonymous feature in the blogs? It doesn't make much sense to me. If you really have something to say, then say it, and be willing to stand behind it without being "anonymous." Whenever I see them, it just makes me feel like asking: what are you hiding behind? I have a hard time acknowledging or validating an anonymous blog for that reason. I also feel that it is meanspirited to throw daggers and then disappear into thin air.
Be real. Peace.

Jan 11, 2007 at 03:01 PM : I'm torn. On one...

I'm torn. On one hand, I understand where you are coming from. On the other hand, like jewels said, just because someone uses their profile name doesn't really make it any less anonymous. Many of us blogggers couldn't pick each other out on the street, profile name or no profile name.

Being anonymous because you want to say something without hearing about it for weeks and weeks I don't mind. But I agree, using the anon button just to say negative things is childish. I think people who don't like anon comments on their blogs should just delete them. It's your blog and you have the right to remove comments you don't want on it. After seeing how sometimes people can just be mean under the guise of being an anon, if it happened on one of my posts I'd probably just delete it and make a "no anons welcome here" statement.

Jan 11, 2007 at 03:01 PM : I have never ever...

I have never ever posted anonymously on this website or any other blog for that matter. Although I have had the urge to a couple times.... Once when I wanted to just let go and give someone a piece of my mind without being judged for it, and once because I simply feared rejection or being ridiculed. I find posting anonymously rather deceiving for either reason. However, I find it much more cowardly to use a anonymous post to bash someone than i do if someone posts anonymously out of fear. I'm not perfect, I get upset sometimes, heck you know that Christine. If I could post anonymously I would be perfect in the eyes of everyone else though!!!!. No one would know that I lost my temper. I could bash someone without paying the consequences but, indeed how cowardly is that? I have messed up on this blog a few times and my views are not always like everyone else's. I am who I am, I'm not perfect and I am REAL OK with that. However, I can still understand why some people would rather be seen in a more perfect way... I am not saying I respect their actions, i am simply saying i understand how the temptation can arise from time to time.

As for people who have posted anonymously out of fear because perhaps they are gay or a minority or whatever... stand up and be brave, no one can hurt you here and this is the best way to get your truth out and to be proud of who you are and of your beliefs. As for people who posts anonymously to bash someone else's idea, you are Pathetic COWARDS in my opinion. Show us who you are and accept the consequences of your actions, I most certainly have.

One more thing, we may not know who you are when you posts anonymously anymore since the creator of this website fixed that problem BUT the creator of this BLOG is also intelligent enough to go into this Blog's site admin and see the IP address of every anonymous poster... Thus at least one person does know who you are whether you post anonymously or not. (wink)

Medicone- Good point.

Christine- Some of these people have very good reasons to post anonymously. I for one have been tempted to post anonymously before but not because I didn't want people knowing I had said it( I could care less! lol ) but because of the way it would affect someone else. Plus, not posting anonymously keeps me in check. I say what I need to,but nothing I'd regret later on. Some on the other had are just plain and simple cowards. Sad, but true.

I agree that those people who work for certain places sometimes feel the need to post anonymously out of fear of reprecussions from their employer or others. I have one of those jobs, and can definitely understand why any Hall employee or hospital employee would choose to remain anonymous.

I remember a couple years ago an employee of the hospital wrote a letter to the editor expressing 100% truth about a matter and was called into the CEO's office over it.

Hello Again, Fellow Bloggers!

Sparks, girl, I obviously need to get with you on the computer thing. Heck, I spent a few hours just trying to switch my blog photo and I still haven't got it right yet! As far as editing my blogs, or editing blog comments, I not only have no clue how to do it, but, also, feel like it takes away from the whole genuine nature and purpose of blogging anyway.

I have had my PC upgraded, so I have been off of the site for a few days. A big thanks to you all for the for the feedback. It opened my eyes about some things I hadn't considered; like the whole employee-employer gripe thing. I get it.

It just irks me when I see people post anonymously with the intent to bash someone viscously. That's sort of like jumping someone from behind, and I can only view it as pathetic and cowardly, ditto Sparks, Jewels and Countygirl.

That's a good question...Infact, just after writing a comment, I looked at the option to hide my user name and thought about it for a minute.
I opted to let everyone know my user name which really doesn't tell anyone my true identity. I have no problem
revealing who I am. After all, if you're going to go take the time to voice your opinion; put yourself Completely out there!
Obviously there are people out there that may be protecting their identity and do not want a confrontation.
Now; to write something with the intention of getting others riled up, just for pure manipulation; (maybe to get the last word? ) C'mon guys...that's Cheating~ Play fair!

Bunee--good for you. After your comment here, I read your other comment, and good for you. All politics aside, you said what you feel and sometimes that will get some bad responses. People here can be quick with their tongue, or should I say fingers, but it's very rare that it becomes vicious or bashing. And when it does, the apologies are all over the place. Unfortunately I know this personally..lol. I've been on both ends and I'm sure I will again. So, Welcome.
