How are the GAS Prices affecting you? - - ChristineFroehlich's Blog - Tehachapi News

BY THE WAY, I DO SPEND OVER $300 a month in ALCOHOL.....it's called regular unleaded at the pump.
I commute, so it's costing me about $40 bucks a commute day in gas right now, Ouch! I have been brown bagging it and cutting costs wherever I can to help offset the rising prices of gas. I drive a medium sized car, so thank goodness I don't drive a big pick-up, but it still hurts.
How is it affecting you? Why do you think gas prices are going so high already? Is there anything we can do about it?

My commute is only 100 miles a day and so the fuel costs do add up after awhile. What needs to be done is eliminate the requirement to have all those different summer, winter, emission blends which drives up refining costs and passed onto everyone. In AZ last week, gas was almost 50 cents a gallon cheaper than here. Now, as far as crapintosh vs PC, our house is a mixed bag, 2 of each; and neither operated by a liberal!!

Greg, I don't pay much attention to how many viruses get found and then deleted unless I'm warned that it can't be resolved which never happens as long as I keep my virus definitions up to date. Dealing with this minor problem is just a cost of doing business on such a widely used operating system. Macs don't have the problem because the malicious people creating these viruses don't waste there time on an OS that almost nobody uses. It would be like trying to sabotage all Daewoos in the US. What's the point! <Just jabbn back Greg!, it's all in fun!>

Mar 22, 2007 at 08:03 AM : Yeah Blaze, I know...

Yeah Blaze, I know it's all in good fun, I get a kick out of it!

As far as gas prices go, one thing consumers can do is to look at more fuel efficient versions of their favorite type of car. I know that there aren't many fuel efficient large SUV's, but there are many fuel efficient mid size SUV's, and lots of fuel efficient smaller cars. I drive a Ford Escape Hybrid for commuting to and from work and I love it. When I go off roading however, I drive my F-150. If there were a hybrid version of the F-150, I'd be happy to try it. Other than that, I can't think of anything else we can do other than political activism.

And now for the Global Warming bent:
I drive a hybrid because I would like to reduce my dependence on oil and save money at the pump, not because I want to reduce global warming because there is no such thing, it's all a big farce. (I'm sure that'll get some people fired up!)

On another note, Blaze have you ever seen that funny e-mail comparing cars to operating systems?! It was hilarious! It said something like the Microsoft car would be going along the highway at top speed then completely explode for no reason! Then it said the Apple car would be well made but cost an absolute fortune and could only drive on 5% of the roads! Funny stuff!

<itunes:summary>Yeah Blaze, I know it's all in good fun, I get a kick out of it!

If you...

Hey Greg~

If you don't mind me asking about how much do those Ford Escape hybrids cost.?

A while back I looked into the Prius but the were above 2-3K over sticker ($ 22K-25K). Too much for me for just a commuter car. I drive a Saturn Vue, which I love, and it's gets decent (20-22 mpg) but I'd like to get a small commuter car. I won't give up my Vue as it is very road worthy up here in the winter, and with the Spike Spyder chains I can drive in deep snow with no problem. and it only takes about 10 seconds to get them on and off. Until I can get a real "manly truck" for horse and hay hauling, I am hanging on to my Saturn and hoping to pick up a small economy car on the cheap.

I have a PC, but all the artsy fartsy types who do graphics, and music editing use Macs. I have used both, so I really don't have a preference other than it's a pain to learn new operating systems.

Christine, I don't remember an exact figure for my Escape Hybrid, but it was definitely up there. And since they were selling quite well at the time (2 years ago) there weren't any deals to be had at all, but I don't think I paid over the sticker price. Hopefully as competition increases the prices will fall. Those types of cars are popular which is why the stickers prices are high, and there isn't a heck of a lot of competition yet. But I think that will change over time.

And even though it doesn't get the posted EPA mileage (I don't know what car does!) it still gets more than double the mileage of my F-150, so that definitely helps every time I fill up.

http://www.computerjokes.net/172.htm

Although XP has given me no problem at all, every MS OS before it sucked! Except NT which was pretty stable but not very user friendly. I've heard some rumblings about Vista that I don't like. I think I'll give it at least a year before I even think about making the switch.

And global warning? Please! don't get me started on that big lie! I can already feel myself getting bent out of shape on that one!! I think I feel another blog topic coming to me!!
