This is too much - Just a Quote - Colitas's Blog - Tehachapi News

I first want to start by saying forgive me for ranting and raving. But have you guys heard of these people that are protested the funerals of falling soldiers? In our town we had a fallen soldier that came home and they had services for him on Saturday. Well, low and behold these stupid people came and tried to protest his funeral. Come on, what's this all about. I am a supporter of free speech, but this is way to much. You can protest the war, you can protest the President, you can protest policies, you can protest the protesters, but for goodness sake, why would anybody protest the dead. What good is this going to do. And of course they do it in the name of God. They say that God is punishing us because the war in Iraq is unjust and also punishing the US because we are OK with gays. Does this really make any sense to anybody? And if so please explain. The people in my town came together. By the way they were white, black, hispanic, men, women, straight, gay, old, young, for the war, against the war, for Bush, against Bush, Christians, non-Christians, people from all walks of life. They came together and blocked the protesters from even getting on the same side of the street of where the services were held. I am so proud that it brings tears to my eyes of the citizens of my town. It doesn't matter what your views are, respect the dead. Not just the soldiers, but everyone. This so outrageous to me. We talk about about being "offended" on this site by words people say. WE ALL need to be "offended" by these people. Don't get me wrong, I know that people treated the soldiers coming home from Viet Nam horrible, but haven't we learned. Our soldiers are doing their job, and unfortunately they can't just quit like most people because they will go to jail. All I know is that if the soldier that came home was a loved one of mine, I would be in jail for at the very least assault. But then again, shouldn't they all be our loved ones?

Disgusting is an understatement. I suppose the people that protest feel that they are doing some sort of 'service' to society, but I don't know who thinks so other than them. I would be very interested to hear a viewpoint in favor of this, and I'm sure that most people here, especially myself, would lay into these people with a fury not before seen on these blogs. Truly now, what is the real reason behind this? My guess is a lack of self respect and probably great insecurity as well. How pathetic. Yes, I am being arrogant and self righteous!

Are there any takers who would like to try justify the despicable actions of the protesters? And I don't mean legal justification!

aero I don't know what military men and women you are talking to, my family and friends who are in the military do NOT feel they are being taken care of properly. They feel they are being screwed. Most are going back to Iraq for the third and Fourth time. You should know that the last thing I would do is dishonor our military seeing as how I have been in the military myself and the military is still a very big part of my life today. If you think we are treating the men and women who volunteered to protect our country fairly, perhaps it is you that is dishonoring them. Oil, a huge ego, and a fear of losing a war that was not necessary in the first place is not only mutilating our soldiers and putting great strain on their families, it's also killing them. Sure a lot of us wanted to go to Iraq and the Bush administration hurriedly edged us on to go to war. We trusted our leaders, now we know that they screwed us and are still screwing us. I have seen several military men and women post on this blog, only one of them thought they were being treated well. The one that flies the confederate flag... I can't remember his name. He's the only one who thinks soldiers are being treated properly...do you know of anyone else????

Are there any military men or women reading this post that would like to speak up????

All fallen service men are heroes. Those who protest at funerals are the worst right wing religious wackos living. I kinda wish their "end of times" would get here already and they'll all disappear. Then the rest of us can live without their rhetoric which apparently, makes them feel good. They kind of have the logic, "I have to kill you to save you." They are truly dishonorable people.

May 1, 2007 at 12:05 PM : aero we both care...

aero we both care about our troops. I simply responded to your comment saying that I dishonored our soldiers by saying they were NOT being treated well by the Bush administration. Fox has dropped in ratings and continues to do so, have you checked the latest ratings? Fox News's total audience fell 24 percent in the past year, to 1.3 million viewers from 1.7 million, and its key primetime audience, viewers ages 25-54, was down 7 percent in October on a year-to-year basis, to an average 363,000 viewers, according to Nielsen Media Research data.

As for ACLU as I said I don't know enough about them to comment. IF they are protecting protesters that are protesting at the funerals of our military men and women... they are just wrong. I will check out the offical website of the ACLU to see if they are really doing this when I have time. Freedom of speech is a wonderful thing but I think we should also respect the dead especially if we ourselves killed them by sending them to a unnecessary war.

aero you and I agree that the military is worth much respect and admiration. What we disagree on is Bush's treatment of our military men and women....and that's ok too.

aero you and I agree that the military is worth much respect and admiration. What we disagree on is Bush's treatment of our military men and women....and that's ok too.
</itunes:summary>

May 1, 2007 at 06:05 PM : As a US Army Soldier...

As a US Army Soldier who served under both Bill Clinton and George W. Bush's administrations, I can tell you that we (US Troops) are much better off now than when Goerge W. Bush first took office. There are always whiners and the media loves to interview them. Keep in mind that this is a 100% VOLUNTEER military force. While I think there is always room for improvement, we have come a long way from the Clinton era.

14 years of service and counting!
