Fire Study Results - BeeKay Theater - DH's Blog - Tehachapi News

I have the new draft of the fire study. You are welcome to come read it on Sat. or Monday in Mountain Music. It should be available Monday at City Hall, as well.
I have just had time to read the intro. They give several recommendations and options, depending on the agreement with the County. Here's an excerpt:
"The City should proceed with negotiations to establish a full fire services contract with KCFD, assuming that the County will develop a cost-effective agreement that includes fully committing to a positive working relationship. This agreement should also include the option to increase KCFD Fire Station 12, from a daily 24-hour on-duty fire-company staffing of three firefighters to four firefighters."
They discuss options under which the City would keep some City unit, but they don't believe a City reserve unit is viable in the long run.
We'll discuss it on Monday.

I have read the study and agree fully. If the city would have only listened they would have heard the same from its citizens instead of spending money and time and frustrations for "local control" hows that local control working now?

Mar 3, 2007 at 07:03 PM : It sounds like you...

It sounds like you have a grasp of what we have been saying all along. I hope that you will either go back to the way it was five years ago or follow the recommendations and contract with KCFD for fire protection. It's too bad that we had to push for this study, but it had to be proved to the council that they were going about it all wrong. Let's get this settled and move on to bigger and better things, i.e.- more support for the police department, Beekay theater, improve our badly deteriorated roads and properly planned neighborhoods.
